I just took a look at all the cookies that I accept when I click accept when entering the forum and there are a ton of them!
I am a persistent cookie clearer and am curious how that will effect my use of the forum. I am also curious if programs such as CCCleaner and Spybot will remove these cookies. Some want to be set for years. I’m not OK with that.
Any insight anyone can provide would be appreciated.

The page spells out what the cookie does and how long it will last. Honestly, it seems completely reasonable and transparent to me. It’s easy to fall into the trap of “all cookies are bad and must be removed” but in reality there’s some very positive uses for them, such as allowing users to set preferences without requiring login, and allowing people like us to collect usage data to determine what areas of the community are getting the most/least visits. The page also mentions what happens if you remove the cookie. I am sure that you can remove all the cookies if you wish.
What would happen if you choose the reject option?

On that page you get a little pop up that allows you to select to only allow the strictly necessary cookies as opposed to all.
I did that just now but still have the same message at the top so I don’t know that it did anything or if that cookie message was pertaining to the site I went to. Probably the site I visited.
Many sites now show these messages as it is required (I believe) by the EU. The EU seems to acknowledge that we have a right to know when someone is planting a cookie on our browser and that we have the right to know what it does. Something that I appreciate. I also appreciate sites that allow only the strictly necessary cookies. I get that sites want to track my movements across there site and any site I visited before, during and after my visit. It must be great data for them and many use it to “target” ads to me. I don’t want that. If it hurts my ability to use the site or this forum, so be it. If you want to track all my data and then make money off of that data, then contact me and we can set up a payment arrangement…lol.

Wow, pages of cookies.. how many of those is this particular forum actually using? That really is a whole lot of them. I am not sure I am okay with that either. I will probably need a bigger cookie jar.
How do/will all these cookies affect referrals?
