They should but greed is allowing our complaints to not have any impact. They have also cut out phone support which really stinks. I also used to be able to get a self-referral on my own purchases and when I didn’t on my Calendar purchase they told me they don’t give us that any longer. It seems it’s all about them.
If you feel the need you can charge them via paypal, if they contact you. Give them your email and take it from there. I tend not to depending on what has been asked. But I have in the past, you should always value your time and work. If a customer really wants something they have to pay for it, that is only fair. With the current change to rates, I am no longer doing custom work on here, even if they assure me they came in on my link! I rarely get that self referral and the royalty rate is so low now (not what we actually ask for) that I have to just fob them off or talk privately about alternative options for them. I understand Zazzle has Ai coming in and too many designers and not enough promoters so it is what it is but that doesn’t men we have to throw in the towel just yet but think of other opportunities instead either on here or elsewhere if need be. I have dropped to 1/3 of my earnings and right when I need a new computer too ;( I am working on my own website. On the upside it was the push I need to sit down and look at making my own websites again. As with Barbara for every door that closes another one will open! Just need to discover the key to unlock new avenues, whether it be niches on here or creating something more physical of your own! Good luck
As my answer above give them your email and charge them for the changes, that said of course it may end up being a best seller in the future… and you do see your return back… it happen once to me (in the hay day of Zazzle) but that was a long time ago now! But you never know, the fact you got discovered frankly is a win these days!
I agree I get multiple emails from them, so even some repeat customers who I initially referred to Zazzle so are on their database and come up as 3rd party. Even though before the changes were self or showed as a NONE. Nothing much we can do but find more fresh customers that aren’t already using Zazzle to get a rarer than hens teeth referral… I am working on it but I am not going to lie it is hard to any referrals and have decades of links already out there!
That is the crazy thing if you get the referral I would actually say it is too much and would rather have a bit less and feel I am getting more on the design part where time and efforts are is really invested. That said we are just going to have to find ways round this, up our prices, drive in more fresh traffic, or move on to something else… or a combination of this…
