UK Zazzle Creators - zazzle.com or zazzle.co.uk?

I’m in the UK but have signed up to zazzle.com - I’ve made a few sales and am just about to submit my W-8BEN. 

However, I’m wondering if I should have joined via zazzle.co.uk? Are their any advantages/disadvantages for a UK seller signing up to Zazzle at either .com or .co.uk? 

The only thing I can think of is being paid in £ rather than $ on .co.uk. Is there anything else to be aware of? Maybe regarding affliliate links (haven’t quite got my head round that yet) and promoing my products via Pinterest etc?

you’re automatically signed up for all the international domains when you signed up for zazzle.com, so no worries there.  

the Zazzle UK domain may not offer all the products that are offered on the Zazzle US domain.
so when you create, always create when signed into your zazzle.com account so that you have access to the full range of products that Zazzle offers.

you can always specify that you want to be paid in British pound.

I’m Canadian, but for Pinterest, I always use promote using the zazzle.com domain for my links (not zazzle.ca)
You can, of course, also choose to promote using the zazzle.co.uk domain for your customers in the U.K.

Thank you so much for replying. It looks like I actually can’t change my currency. It says ‘Your primary currency is USD’ - whether I’m signed in at .com or .co.uk - there is no option I can see to change to £.

Try live chatting a Zazzle agent (during their North American business hours) or emailing Zazzle customer support (click on link below) next week (on Monday/Wednesday/Thursday/Friday – the office will probably be closed on Tuesday, July 4, for Fourth of July festivities), asking them to change your primary currency to £. I had to do this myself when I first set up my account and accidentally selected USD instead of CAD.

Zazzle only pay in $'s.

I spend a considerable amount each month having to convert it to £’s

I was told they only pay in $'s. Spend a few hundred each month converting it. And this was a recent enquiry :disappointed_face:

Hi @BarbaraAC  I’m in the UK and I get paid in UK£ because I opened my account on the UK site (although now I only use the UK site when I buy from Zazzle, not for creating). I sometimes wish I was paid in dollars as fluctuations in exchange rate cause drops/increases in my earnings which can be confusing, but other than that I haven’t encountered any other disadvantages or differences. Congrats on your sales - sounds like you’re off to a great start!

I wonder if the timing coincides with recent 20% that’s being taken off sales made on the non-U.S. domains?

If it’s ok to ask, do you get charged by Zazzle, Paypal or your bank to convert from $ to £?

Also - thank you so much for enrolling me in your course - so much helpful info there - I’m making a start on it this weekend :slightly_smiling_face:

I know you asked Leah :), but if you get paid in USD by Zazzle and choose the £ for your main currency in Paypal, Paypal will charge you for the currency conversion from USD to £.

For sales made on its non-U.S. Zazzle domains, Zazzle charges based on the currency conversion as well as (since last month) a 20% fee which is taken off the price the item is sold at.  

So if you sell from both your Zazzle US and non-U.S. domains, and you opt for payment by Paypal, you get charged by both Zazzle and Paypal.

I need to get back to them, I asked about this only recently.

I am paying literally hundreds each month in conversion fees.

Did you register with the UK site? I can’t even recall which I signed up with.

I’ve always been paid in $'s and it costs me a few thousand a year n currency conversions. I just found out a member gets paid in £’s and I feel a bit ill now! :sob:

Urrgh so confusing … there are sites now that don’t charge at all to convert currencies. So I might have to find a way to transfer the funds from Paypal to them to convert and send to me in £’s. Not sure how they make any money doing this?? I hope it’s legit.

oh my goodness, I do not know of any sites that don’t charge for currency conversion. 

banks do charge, I know that that’s how they make money. If Paypal charges 3 percent, that’s almost half of what Zazzle charges (I recall 6 percent).

It’s unfortunate, but it is possible that you were told something in error by customer support. That happened to me before, when I was sure I was in the right, and a live chat agent agreed with me, and later the decision was reversed and it turned out I was wrong. :disappointed_face:

@CreativeLeahG  I think originally I signed up on the UK site (so many moons ago) I only have the options to be paid in £s or Euros (you’ll still pay hundreds if you get paid in £s with the exchange rate shenanigans that happen) we get dinged in so many ways nowadays there’s no happy medium
