i could not find much about rules regarding the color grouping of products. I know the product and desing must be the same but the colors can varry. I did so, but still no products are grouped. I tryied to push it manualy but still no result. Is there neccessary the exact match of title, description and tags? I dont think so, but cannot find what is wrong
I did a little test with some existing listings that have grouped variants, and it looks like the titles, descriptions, and tags don’t need to be identical at all. The tags can actually be quite different.
It’s pretty easy to check. Find a listing with multiple variants, then search for each variant separately on Zazzle using its exact title. If you open each one directly from the search results, you can see that each variant has its own URL and product ID, and can also have its own title, description, and completely different set of tags.
But here’s the interesting part: if you open one of the variants and then switch to another one directly using the variant selector on the product page, the title and description change to match the variant you selected, but the displayed tags don’t change. They stay the same as the tags of the variant you originally opened from the search results.
So if you only compare the variants by switching between them on the same product page, it can look like they all have identical tags — but they actually don’t. You need to find and open each variant separately to see its own tags.
Based on this test, tags don’t appear to have any significant effect on whether products can be grouped as variants. I found products within the same variant group that have completely different sets of tags, yet Zazzle still groups them together. So identical or even closely matching tags clearly don’t seem to be a requirement for grouping.
No idea on what page of the help files, but there is note that title, tags and co could be different. They should, because then you use them better.
Tried to find it for you, but I have in mind I read somewhere the design elements have to be different in template mode. Not same text new image, same text in different colors with same image. I had in mind customers tend to love it easy and lazy, so, on click on another color option should show them every product in different colors, not with different options like more text, other images, title big oder huge and before small.
Sorry, could not find the source. There was a text about this. I am not a good english speaker, for this reason, I am sure there was a text I could translate somehow.
thank you and dont worry about your language, its better then mine (thats why i used previously AI to fix it ) . I have actually made some corrections in products now (titles, description, tags) and will try to give it some time without change. Maybe i was just too excited and too reorganising many things and didnt give it the chance to group peacefully.
just check the community post, sometimes it will take a week to get them grouped. It’s Labor Day in USA. Not all countries work at one rule or calendar, a few days are in the States not working days. Quite easy to forget.
No idea if a human has to deal with our group ideas, but it feels that on holidays, the process ist not as fast as we are. The most part time designer work on the days when no office is open.
well, i want to kind of take back my words, that tags and titles does not matter for variants grouping and i am trully sorry if i misguided anyone… i got mess in some of my products, they grouped badly and what i searched later, it may be because of not keeping similar tags and title. The grouping system is frustrating for me - first i could not offer in one product all sizes because the desing did not match all of them well. So i decided to make for each size separate product with fixed desing. And the result was, that grouped were wrong designs and wrong titles/descriptions/tags. I dont know why they grouped together in such way. In one product now i see desing for scalloped corners and in its other variation i see desing for bracket corners… In separated products how i designed them, it is all right, but customer see in variations total mess. Sad about that.
I really wish we could group designs when the placeholder image (and color palette) is different. I have a number of designs where I change the photo to match the color, but the designs are exactly the same. For example, graduation products where I have different colors for different schools. If I include a photo of the graduate in their graduation garb, the colors of the sash they’re wearing should match the color of the school (and the design). I have repeatedly tried to manually request grouping of these products with an explanation that it’s the same design just with different colors and a different placeholder photo. I don’t think the placeholder photo being different should have any impact on grouping.
