I’m trying to figure out how to promote my products.
So far I have done no external marketing.
BUT…despite this…I have had some sales come in as SELF and some as NONE.
But since I haven’t done any external marketing I can’t figure out what these sales are and where they are coming from.
I’ve searched and searched on this forum and can’t figure out what the difference is, or in what scenarios they might exist. The only thing I can think is that these are sales based on somehow someone clicking on a clean link—perhaps someone clicks on a google hit that isn’t an ad? And maybe when someone clicks a clean link and lands on one of my product pages through that clean link…maybe then clean link purchases of my products—no matter their source—are credited to me?
I admit, I’m very confused. I’m so confused I don’t even know how to ask the question.
@Argyleimp as far as I understand it the difference is all in the customer’s browser settings when they click on a clean link.
If they allow cookies and they buy it - it’ll come in as a Self on a clean link (maybe - not always - as long as they’ve not picked up anyone else’s RF along the way in the previous 14 days - including zazzle’s own), if they don’t have any cookie blocking software - it may be a None (but ymmv - nothing is guaranteed even with clean links) and getting a None these days is magic sauce.
If you’ve not promoted anything - there could be a case where someone else has promoted your things externally and they forgot to add their RF. It happens
Congrats on the self’s and none’s! They are few and far between these days.
I wonder…if someone comes through to Zazzle through a non-sponsored/non-paid-ad link from google, does that count as a clean link? (ie., the keywords or whatever triggered a search result and then a clean-click-through—the click-through wasn’t via paid advertising.) And if that person purchased multiple things from multiple artists at the same time, would each individual artist’s sale count as a self-referral?
This is what I was thinking might be happening…tagging was such on the various sales that the hits were being clicked through on a non-sponsored google click-through.
@Argyleimp only the owner of the clean link would make the self referral (maybe) If the person purchased multiple things from multiple artists, the owner of the original clean link that brought that person in would earn nothing (if their product wasn’t purchased) and the individual artists would earn a 3rd party sale probably. (a small chance it would be a none depending on their browser)
If you promote your own products with a RF attached, you may earn a 15% referral if that person didn’t buy your product but bought someone else’s
All very ifs and buts and maybes
The “non-sponsored google click-through” should keep the clean link but we don’t really know
According to the Ambassador Program FAQs self-promo links work on
* Your Public Product page(s)
* Your Collection page(s)
* Your Store page(s)
* Your Member Profile page(s)
(Still wondering if links to a store Category are included under “your Store pages” ?)
So someone entering the Zazzle domain via the home page or any of the probably hundreds of other pages that don’t lead to a specific designer or product and then finding their way to your specific product by browsing/searching on site, those would be a None sale. (Assuming of course that the visitor doesn’t already have someone else’s tracking active.)
A “non-sponsored google click-through” direct to you should be treated as a self-promo link. With the sharp decline in None sales and rise in 3rd Party ones most people have been reporting, I have to wonder if a “non-sponsored google click-through” to any of those not-designer-specific pages are now being treated as 3rd Party referrals for Zazzle.
