What is the actual secret to get items to reliably move in collections (not cross-sell, just normal item feed). I am working on Macs in Chrome, and it seems there is no rhyme or reason to when they will actually grab and drag. Both my desktop (with a mouse) and laptop (trackpad) have had this issues for years now. It’s incredibly frustrating.
It also seems like if you try adding newer items to an older collection, it doesn’t want to let you move the new ones up between the old, and vice versa. Like the old ones are ‘locked’ in place or something.
i think there are two answers that work – maybe a third. One is to do it almost one at a time or two at a time and then check to make sure they’ve moved. The third is just good luck. There is definitely something fluky with the grabbing process and I’m on a pc in Firefox and have had the same issue with Windows 7 and Windows 11. And, yes, therefore, it takes too much time. I think the staff needs to try it for themselves a few times and they’ll understand that re-arranging is not often a simple task – or perhaps there is a trick that we don’t know.
I’m always doing them one at a time. It can do it on the first try one time… then take me 20 times trying on the next one, doing the same exact way. But yeah, I was hoping there is an unknown trick someone has figured out haha.
I’ve found that if I click & hold, drag just a bit, then release the mouse button - the product will be moved by moving the mouse. Click the button again when at desired location.

The order keeps flipping around when trying to re-order. It requires very frequent reloading of the page to see where things have actually landed and of course everything under the page limit requires extra clicks to see.
Part of the downgrade of collections and very frustrating indeed.
There’s no secret- it just doesn’t always work! I haven’t run into the issue of not being able to grab a product and drag and drop it, but a lot of times it doesn’t stay there. In fact, what usually happens is I’ll move several products, they seem to stick, then I’ll move another one and they all jump back to the original spot. Sometimes I have to try several times before they actually stay in the correct position. It’s really frustrating!
So it seems I should have for sure put this in ‘technical issues’ haha. Since there seem to be a few issues it does for everyone. Mine does the jumping too. Usually if I refresh, they end up in the right spot. But man its all frustrating.
But yeah, I was hoping there is an unknown trick someone has figured out haha.
