Is this still an issue for you? I logged in to your account but can’t replicate it. Thanks.

@Fiona   Yes please it is still an issue.

What device are you using?

What operating system is it running, and which version?

Which browser are you using, and is it up to date?

@Scott   I am using Safari browser and Apple iPhone 15. I know new design desktop tool is not meant for mobile, but there is no colour picker in mobile tool and I used to use it frequently in old desktop design version.

I tried to create etched glasses today. As often I use svg files on them for smoother and better defined lines.
But when I select the design and click on Fill Color button or Line Color, it directly closes the design editor.

Remarks:

  • I tried with an old design on an old product where I already played with line/fill colors and it’s the same result, so it’s not a problem coming from my latest svg files.

  • I created an etched glass  the 7th of April and it was still working , so it’s a new problem.

Clicking Fill Color or Line Color in a Leather Patch Hat design closes design view. I’m having this issue when creating a leather patch hat, pt-zazzle_patchhat, both the adult retro trucker and Richardson 112 style. I don’t know if the issue is specific to this product type, but I couldn’t repro in a couple other designs I tried, aka a pillow.

Note: I am using the Zazzle desktop tools and a mouse with the latest version of Google Chrome on a Windows 11 PC, with the latest updates. I’ve tried rebooting and starting a new design, with the same unexpected results. It’s important to test this with the leather patch hat product…might not repro with other designs.

Steps to Repro

  1. Create a new leather patch hat, e.g., pt-zazzle_patchhat.

  2. Add a dynamic shape, such as a circle. I also had this issue with SVGs.

  3. Try clicking the Fill Color or Line Color dropdowns to adjust the colors.

I would expect the dropdowns to show options for changing colors.

  1. Instead, design view closes, showing the product without any design controls.

Thanks in advance!

It does that to me too. I tried on an existing design to add a circle. It added a white circle with black line/border, I tried to change the center/fill and it closed the tool entirely.

Apparently it’s the same issue as the one I highlighted here: https://community.zazzle.com/t5/technical-issues/svg-problem-on-etched-glasses/m-p/245724

I’m trying to change the color of text on a foil guest book and it immediately closes the design editor.

I’m having the same issue with the ‘Self Inking Rubber Stamp’. When I select “Text color” in the design editor, the window closes and I’m returned to the product window. This issue also occurs with ‘dynamic shapes’ and ‘shapes’. Additionally, my SVGs aren’t given the usual ‘Color’ option, instead they have the same options available for ‘shapes’  (“Fill color”, “Line Color” and “Line weight”). Selecting any one of these also takes me back to the product window!

Trying to keep this close to a similar issue I’m having today with the colors.

I’m using iMac Tahoe and latest Chrome versions.

When I’m trying to design on the binders, I want to use the “white” background on the Spine.  I’ve clicked on the Spine layer, and the white, and nothing changes.  The Background Layer has a design on it, and I want to cover the spine to make it all white, so I would be able to add customizable text. (Note: I have tried other colors, and those do work, just the white color is not filling in.)

I’m forced to FEFEFA hex code alternative, if this is happening to anyone else.  Or on other products.

The background color chosen on the background layer was going under the image, so I realized that the color chosen on the spine layer was doing the same thing.  It wasn’t doing this on the older design tool, but whatever.  It easy to make a dynamic element full sized for the spine layer and just color it white, instead of having to use the FEFEFA hex code for white.

I think it’s definitively wiser to add an element covering the full spine as background for it, because the behavior without it is quite strange to me: If you put pure white FFFFFF in the hexa code field, it is not visible and the bg  picture appears, whereas when you choose another color like your FEFEFA white, it appears in the previews…It’s as if FFFFFF was in fact transparent. Not very logic to me.

I found this tool outside Zazzle for anybody that needs a colour picker as a temporary solution till Zazzle team will fix our colour picker on Zazzle. Here it is Colour picker

The problem with etched glasses and svg is solved on my side.
