When you download the font are you able to use it on Zazzle?

When you download the font you like to your computer or mobile are you able to use it on Zazzle for your product design, can you see it among the Zazzle fonts list? How do you do that exactly?

Zazzle’s list of fonts in the design tool are either public domain or fonts they have a license to let us use them.

The only way to use a font you download (regardless if public domain or you have a license for it) would be to open up your choice of image editor and type the text there, then upload that to zazzle. You won’t be able to change the typed text once you upload it to your Zazzle images, so you can’t make it a text template.

I think if you wanted to go that route, you would want to use it for text that doesn’t change like “Happy Birthday” rather than the part of the design that has the age number, since you would want customers to be able to change the age.

Edited to add: I dont think Zazzle will ever let us add our own fonts because that would potentially open them up to legal issues. They would have to find a way to vet EVERY font every designer adds and that would be a huge undertaking.

@SimplyDesigned  Thank you for taking time  to explain, I was not aware of the legal issues at all that other fonts can cause to Zazzle. I never tried to do that but I do have many free beautiful fonts that I’d be happy to use in my designs.

Yeah! Its out of my skill range but there’s people that are in the business of making fonts from scratch and selling licenses for others to use them. I can’t really draw so I couldn’t imagine being creative enough to come up with something with the same style for every letter. I know of one font we used to have in Zazzle, but we don’t anymore due to licensing/legal issues.

A little advice take the time to make sure your free fonts can actually be used on POD platforms because it is usually not the same and it could cause problems for you. In many cases you need to pay for additional licenses and it is not always the same as having a commercial license. Be careful with this and read the fine print of the usage license very carefully.

You can’t add your own font to the list of Zazzle fonts. And be careful when using an external font ( as picture ) in your design , you must own a valid license for the font, allowing a commercial use of it.

@Fantabuloustef   Wow good to know I had no idea it is illegal. To this day I use fonts from Zazzle only and what I own myself on images I created. Wow things can be complicated for sure. Thank you for letting me know.
