Who wants old design tool back? Or opt out option?

Who wants old design tool back? Or an option to opt out from the new design tool. I do want both.

Thank you for bringing this up (again) @Veselka_Store
You can count me in as well.
I actually think this new “design tool” is not a tool at all, but a disaster. Not only for us designers, but also for customers.
I just asked support to explain something and even they did not have a clue, needed to ask “the team”.
Instead of taking that as a hint, I was patronized and told I would start to love new tool … Really?!
Customers don’t want to have to follow a tutorial in order to simply buy something.
And as a designer, I’d rather spend my time on creating something new than having to struggle with a clearly bug-ridden and dysfunctional “tool”.
I think this thing is seriously impacting sales. It’s beyond me that Zazzle chooses to ignore these issues.

Me too. But I have no hope, regarding the consideration we get.

I had to totally change my process.
Before, I created pieces of design I assembled in the Zazzle design editor to have the best arrangement for each kind of product, and to be sure my products had best quality.
Now I prepare the whole design in procreate/fresco and/or inkscape and I put the whole piece in the editor. I limit the personalization possibility for the customers as much as possible in order to avoid all the problems of the editor.

The previous version of the editor made me work a lot in Zazzle itself and finally I moved away from all the other pod platforms where I had accounts too.

So, with this new process, I now feed the other platforms at the same time. I’m going to spend as much time promoting on these other platforms as I did on Zazzle and we’ll see which one works the best now that the effort is balanced everywhere.

I do. And I’m sure customers do too. The old tool was simple, intuitive, and everything was right where you expected it.

This new tool feels like the game show Let’s Make a Deal …‘What’s behind the door? Door #1, Door #2, Door #3?’ Except now it’s icons. You have to click every single one just to find basic functions.

It honestly feels like it was designed by someone who has never created a product from start to finish. Creators need clarity, not a guessing game

the chances of the old editor coming back are slim to none. It was certainly expensive to build, and I don’t think we’ll ever hear Zazzle say, “We value our creators and should have asked whether this was needed before rolling it out.”  (That’s satire, but only barely.)

What you said about having to completely change your process, I agree…. So many of us built our entire workflow around the old editor because it was reliable, and let us fine‑tune each product easily, effortlessly without searching for what we need behind icons.

Now the new tool is so slow and unpredictable that creators are doing exactly what you described — flattening designs, limiting personalization, and shifting their energy to other PODs because the editor no longer supports the way we work.

And honestly, I don’t believe actual customers tested the beta either. If they had, the feedback would’ve been loud and clear: this isn’t faster, easier, or more intuitive for anyone.

At this point, I think a lot of creators’ homes are about to get cleaner, gardens better manicured, and closets reorganized  not because we suddenly became domestic, but because the new design tool is so frustrating that stepping away from it feels like relief.

Your last sentence made me burst out laughing because it’s exactly what I did this morning : closets reorganization !

I opened Z to work on a design, saw that the old interface has gone goodbye.  Backed right on out of there,  decided I’d go clean the toilets and cat litter boxes instead of trying to use that annoying new interface today.

Yes!  Let’s bring back the old design tool.  The new one is not only difficult to work with, it also seems to lack some of the features the old design tool had.  For example, trimming off just one side of an image.  I also can’t figure out how to layer text on top of an existing image.

At Zazzle Mods:  Let us revert back to the old/previous tool permanently. It was stable, reliable, and just simply worked. This revised tool is sloppy as in tools are disorganized, and if you read the various posts, you can see that designers/creators are not taking to it because it just does not work for us. You focused on customers, and left us, the creators, out of the process. And now this is what we are expected to struggle with. Been here too way too many years and have seen too many “new” changes, lots of which were abandoned. Add the ongoing issue of us the creators posting on the forum about important issues and not even getting responses from Z mods. Another issue being posted about since the last several changes–sales are crashing. And then there’s taking away the ability of being able to call Z on the phone to get answers, AI chat does not cut it, frustrating. Sending email to tech is hit or miss. I could go on, but why bother. Z is not what it used to be 18 years ago. Not a happy creator, nope. Z, pay attention to the fact that you are losing your long time creatives, they are leaving, read the posts.

I’m reorganizing our basement! I ran into a wall trying to change the orientation on tissue paper, with the Orientation dialog box missing controls and not rendering correctly. I eventually published a mug design today, but it still feels like pushing boulders uphill.

I’ve wrangled some challenging and fledgling tools over the years. This one, however, wins a prize for being undercooked and exceptionally difficult, especially since we once had a highly functional tool.

:joy:  :+1:

A little touch of humour is good to relativize this massive disappointment with this tool !
In France we have an expression that applies well in this case, we would have said Zazzle “s’est tiré une balle dans le pied” Literally: they shoot themselves in the foot….

That’s what I too thought without knowing your expression, did something bad for themselves to hurt themselves, this will make Zazzle loose in sales, in production, in the number of designers, in products, but life will tell exactly, sigh…

I did spring cleaning and decorated for Easter.  now I am thinking about painting the bathroom.  I am not motivated to create. The new improved design tool took the fun out of creating.
