Zazzle Covers featuring Mobile, shows the invite or card LIGHTER than actual color

The color showing on the mobile phone view is correct but the larger view of the card or invite is showing as much lighter than the actual set color which is going to create issues for customers as the color is not looking like the color they will be getting when printed.

Hi @CreativeLeahG  ,

Thanks for passing this on. Can you please send me some of the PIDs and some screenshots so I can pass this on?:camera_with_flash:

You have no message feature - not posting here due to copycats but if you look at flat card 'black invitations re the zazzle covers that also feature a mobile phone, you’ll see they’re showing as light gray.

Hey @CreativeLeahG  ,

I see what you mean. I’m passing this on to the team now. 🙏

I’ve noticed a big color discrepancy between the Zazzle mockups and the artwork. I asked about this once in terms of wine bottle labels because the problem seemed particularly bad there. I was told that this was done purposefully in order to help mimic the reflective light effects that would normally occur when the label was wrapping around the bottle. (They worded it differently, and the thread is somewhere in the forum, but I can’t find it.) ANYHOW, I’ve been assuming that something similar was going on with the product mockups for flat paper products - like they were purposefully lightening the colors because of the way it prints on different paper types or something like that? It is particularly noticeable on darker colors and does make me wonder how they actually look when printed.

Not helpful to the customer when they want jet black and they get charcoal gray? I don’t believe that’s what they’ve been getting because I haven’t observed cancellations regarding this. BUT the item won’t sell, if it has the appearance of gray and they want black.

Agreed. I keep thinking I should order some samples so I could know for sure. But if the customer feedback I’ve received is any indication, I think it probably prints much closer to the actual chosen color (the darker one shown in the artwork) than the color depicted in the Zazzle mock-ups. I have one design in particular (a deep reddish-brown background) that gets a LOT of returns because people always expect the color to be lighter than it is. I keep trying to remedy the situation by changing the title and description, but it doesn’t seem to be helping. We can make our own mockups that show the true color, but the customer can still see the Zazzle mockups and that’s still going to confuse them.

I’ve been working on cover images and noticing the same discrepancy between the color of the artwork and the color of the Zazzle mockup - it’s the same problem Leah is noticing where the color on the digital download example is the artwork color and the mockup is the lighter shade. Here are some samples all from invitations, postcards, programs, save the dates, etc - all flat cards:

good work Cat! Thank you, hopefully the covers we have made from their mockups won’t be affected. I only noticed this recently.
