Zazzle - Formal Open Complaint For Your Legal Department Re Affiliate Referral Redirects

Zazzle, in the absence of even an ‘acknowledgment’ of the affiliate redirect issue, I feel I have no alternative due to facing massive losses to take the next step.

Re: Complaint Regarding Affiliate Program Redirect

Dear Zazzle Legal Department,

I am writing to express my concern about a change made (without notice to affiliates at a date unknown) to your affiliate program that I believe is unfair and potentially illegal. Specifically, I am referring to the redirect that you ‘appear’ to have implemented that takes affiliate referrals (when shared on social media platforms) to a page that contains other sellers’ products instead of the product page that we intended to send them to.

Specifically re P2 program. If I send a customer to MY product page they have the option there to buy, review my collection and only see a small carousel of products re other sellers. However, that appears to nolonger be the case. Referrals are instead now going to a ‘landing page’ which shows my product (minus product details) and 65 products from other sellers. Ie creating a situation where I now have 1 in 66 chance to make a sale and gain a referral.

I did not spend years creating content and forwarding HUGE volumes of traffic to Zazzle for this to be the case.

I believe that this redirect is a violation of the terms of our affiliate program agreement. The agreement states that affiliates will be paid a commission on all sales generated through their referrals. However, the redirect is effectively preventing me from earning commissions on sales of my own products.

In addition to being a violation of our agreement, I believe that the redirect is also deceptive. Customers are not aware that they are being taken to a page that does not contain the ability to purchase the product (without following another link)  that they are looking for and they are instead swamped once more with ‘choice’. This could lead to customers becoming frustrated and abandoning their purchase altogether.

I am requesting that you immediately remove the redirect and allow my referrals to go to the product pages that I send them to. I am also requesting that you compensate me for any lost commissions that I have incurred as a result of the redirect.

If you are able to reasonably confirm and demonstrate however your redirect is legal, not deceptive, not intended to create a loss of referral income I will reconsider my complaint.

If however the ‘radio silence’ myself and other creators have met with so far re this issue continues, I will have no option but to forward my complaint to:

I urge you to take my complaint seriously and take immediate action to address this issue.

Note : Recently a Zazzle Team Member confirmed members like myself who raise concerns ‘frequently’ may be removed from the community. Concerns are raised ‘frequently’ when they are serious and yet not addressed. I hope that will not be the case here, as censorship is not the answer. That will merely escalate the issue. This complaint takes the form of an open letter for FULL transparency and because it affects many other affiliates not just myself.

Sincerely,

LeahG

  1. If I use a Promoter Link to drive sales, am I eligible to earn referrals on other people’s products?

The Promoter Program is designed to reward you for driving sales to your own store(s) and product(s), and to help you grow your brand and your customer base. Since we are offering the very high 35% Promoter (self) referral rate on your own products for sales driven via your Promoter Link, sales of other people’s products will not be eligible for referrals.

Once again, while other lesser issues receive an acknowledgment, nothing here (no response to email either) not even something to say ‘received’.

As such I have posted it here. https://www.complaintsboard.com/zazzle-b119521#complaints

What a sad day.

Dear Zazzle,

I’m addressing a crucial issue that has had a profound impact on Zazzle affiliates, particularly those involved in the Promoter 2 Program. This matter revolves around an apparent redirect situation that significantly alters the referral process, affecting our ability to direct traffic to our intended product pages.

Specifically, the current redirect leads potential customers from social media platforms to a landing page showcasing 65 other sellers’ products, rather than our intended store page. This page lacks our product details and the option to directly purchase, diminishing our chances of making a sale. This drastic change effectively reduces our probability of securing a referral to just 1 in 66.

This redirection contradicts the core principles of the Zazzle Affiliate Promoter 2 program, where affiliates receive referral fees exclusively for sales of our own products. This alteration, undisclosed and seemingly unaddressed, has significantly impacted affiliate income. As a proven successful affiliate ( Pro Platinum Seller with around $35,000 earnings in referral fees alone) and seller on your platform, I’ve witnessed a substantial decline in referrals and sales since this change was implemented.

The terms of the affiliate program explicitly state that the Promoter Program rewards affiliates for driving sales to their own stores and products, emphasizing a 35% referral rate for such sales. This pivotal detail, emphasizing ‘our store,’ is being undermined by the current redirect practice.

Numerous complaints have been raised via your forum and email, yet this issue has not received any acknowledgment or resolution. Therefore, I am formally requesting the immediate removal of the redirect. Affiliates must have the ability to direct customers to the specific product pages they originally intended. Furthermore, I request fair compensation for the lost commissions resulting from this redirection.

I also bring attention to a recent statement by a Zazzle Team Member (details below) regarding concerns raised within the community. The potential risk of removal for expressing concerns or highlighting issues of significance is troubling and could lead to censorship. Transparency and open communication are critical to resolving these issues without escalation.

This complaint is not only mine but represents the concerns of many other affiliates affected by this redirection issue. I sincerely hope for prompt acknowledgment and resolution, emphasizing transparency and fair treatment within the Zazzle community.

Sincerely,

Leah G

New issues re affiliate linked items.

@HightonRidley

"

I noticed today that a change Zazzle made to product pages stopped some of the Nifty Bookmarklets from being able to pick up your referral id when you used them."

Please explain - I am not a technical wizard … does this mean thousands of affiliate linked items no longer work?

I answered where you originally replied to my post, @CreativeLeahG . Just to reiterate, it was only my bookmarklets that were affected and not Zazzle’s own sharing tools.

Hopefully that clears it up :slightly_smiling_face:

Do you know what change Zazzle made that affected them?

As of Monday morning, this is still leading to a 404 error page, including the redraft.

I know, I think there is a review process that seems to be experiencing a delay.

Meanwhile, I think we all know by now we aren’t going to get a reply from Zazzle.

All I can do now I delete all my social media links to Zazzle and promote solely from my sites. Damage control. Linkover history will sink but that will not make a jot of difference to me.

Given you have elected to redirect our p2 social media referrals to a landing page that is NOT the link we referred (store page) which is not in accordance with the terms of the p2 agreement, I have no option but to remove myself and all the several thousand p2 links.

My 35% referrals are down from 5 ish a day to 1 every 5-6 days.

As such please remove me from the P2 program.

Thank you
