How to rearrange collections on your store's homepage, now?

On my store homepages I show collections instead of categories. Before the collection overhaul, I could easily rearrange the collections, so the more relevant or discounted collections were shown first. Now I'm lost. I tried to rearrange them the new way but they don't stick, and the home page still shows the old order. Either I'm doing it wrong or it doesn't work as it should and did.

@AnderBerry: Be aware that designers may want to sort their collections differently in their different stores. I hope this has been taken into consideration.

Update after further checks. Thank you, Sara for your helpful input:

  • Collections ARE sorted individually on a store basis (if rearranged on store level), so no issue here, my fault.
  • New positions stick, but not real-time, so you have to wait some time to see the results.
  • Homepage didn't show the changes yet. Possibly it needs some time to do so, as in the old days before collections became more "responsive".

@Fiorenzo I just tried to reordering using the Reorder Collections and it seem to work. I chose a collection half way down the page and used the up arrow to send it to the top. I checked my store front and the changes were made.

Once you have done it - the back store end listing order will still stay the same as it's default 'View by Manual' - it won't be in the same order as the store front collections are like the old way

 

I don't like how it's a long list and not a grid like before it's really difficult to see what collections you have

Thanks, Sara, this is the way I did it. Just checked again, and the collections I moved earlier are shown correctly in the backend-list. Tried to move another one, then re-checked, and didn't stick. So I guess, the reordering is not real-time anymore. Which is a shame. Also, the new reorganizing is account-wide, it seems, not store-specific, which is bad. So is the new way to reorganize. Plus, the changes still didn't affect my homepage collections. I guess, we have to deal with these issues in the initial phase, I hope it all gets fixed and done a tad better in the future. And I truly hope, the changes are done real-time or with a short delay and not after a day or so as in the old times before things got better.

@Fiorenzo I went to my store back end and reorganized those at store level - not member level. Though it is mildly infuriating that if you delete a collection whilst in the Collections Management at store level it boots you back to member level collections and you lose where you were in the store collection list.

Am sure it'll evolve with all the feedback that's been given and hopefully become more user friendly than it is now

Thank you again. You're right. Checked it again and I saw that the collections ARE sorted individually by store, so this is not an issue, I just didn't realize. Still, the homepages don't show the changes yet, probably due to indexing.

Thank you for the tips Sara but for me it's not working at all. For me the order of collections on the home page is completely jumbled up, even when I try to reorder them from the back-end, the order on the home page may move but completely randomly and not in the order I try to set.

@Liya I don't have collections on my home page - so it might be a bug affecting Home Page collections placement plus as we all know - it takes time for any changes to go through so it might be a server backlog issue before you see any changes made? Who knows😂

A pity you changed the whole system regarding collections. It's all complicated. I am very sorry. A real discouragement, missing products, nothing is understood anymore. I raise my hands. Now I don't even know where the other products that have exceeded the limit as a collection number are. It is not clear. A whole work completely turned upside down.

The order of my collections is totally messed up.  The order that they show up in the back end of my store does not match the order in which they appear on my public store front AT ALL.  Using "Reorder Collections" isn't working for me.  It used to be very easy to change the order, and now I have absolutely no idea how to rearrange them.  I do change the order of my collections seasonally, so any guidance on this issue would be very much appreciated!!

It's strange. In my FX Graphica store (pretty empty) it seems to work but in my Pet's Dreamlands one it doesn't. You're right, it's pretty a mess right now. And I didn't check it out seriously, yet.

When you say "in your collections" ? It's only there for a cross sell type under burger menu)

To reorder within a collection - you drag and drop - there is no button within a collection to do this

If you mean the 'reorder collections" on your collections page - that's still there

What browser/os are you using? (I'm firefox/windows) and it's showing for me - at store and member level
