Video on (some?) cookies ending that could affect how we affiliate market

This is an SEO and marketing expert that I follow that is giving a live talk on what is happening with 1st and 3rd party cookies.  It starts at 2pm EST, but there will be a replay if you can't make it.  I am not affiliated or connected to her or her channel at all, I just thought that the video might provide insight into the future of affiliate marketing and our referral income here on Zazzle so I thought I would share.  I do not know the exact content of what she will be speaking about.  It may not even pertain to anyone here so you can decide if it is worth your time to watch, but I have found a lot of her information in the past to be helpful.

I forget the specific thread, I think it was the one pertaining to the landing pages, but it was confirmed I believe that referrals are unaffected by the change as while 3rd party cookies are being phased out, Zazzle utilizes first-party cookies which are still very much in play.

That last part highlighted in purple was also the biggest takeaway from the video.  Yes, our referral cookies won't be affected directly- as in they will still work as long as the stars all align ( 😂 ), but, as far as sites like Pinterest, Twitter, and FB that use 3rd party cookies for targeted ads, you (in the general sense) might find that it is going to be harder to get your paid ads or even links in front of your target audience without being very specific and intentional.  That can definitely affect how effective our marketing efforts are and we may see less return for efforts on sites like that.  From what I see in the forum, I don't think most people here are using paid ads though, so it may not change anything.  Time will tell.

editing to add that if you need a little basic info on cookies she gives a short explanation that helps to understand how it all works.

I've never done paid ads, so don't know much about them or how they work.

Re Pinterest, you may find this resource helpful

"Pinterest may be in the right place at the right time. While the impending death of third-party cookies along with growing privacy concerns have marketers on edge, the visual discovery platform is positioned to provide high-quality audience prospects for marketers. Users arrive with active intent to find and shop new ideas and products, and Pinterest helps them make their next move. "

It seems like things might be better not worse re Pinterest?

That was a good article and very good news that they should be resilient to the cookie changes.
