I love them! 🙂

But... there's an issue. They look like tapestries instead of rugs in the mockups.

I'll be using only the flat images of the rugs because the in situ images are disturbingly warped, which will have a negative effect on sales.

I love the idea of area rugs, but don't care for the in situ images. They look very...artificial? Computer-generated?

It's very jarring compared to other home decor products, like pillows, where the furniture in the photo actually looks like real furniture instead of a scene from The Sims.

Great rugs! For a customer, I think it's really useful to see the texture/structure on the underside photo. However with this photo, the Poly-Chenile printed top looks a bit laminated. Would it be useful to see an actual photo of the top texture somewhere, and do the indoor and outdoor version look the same?

Jeez, this is now a really lovely surprise. Didn't test it yet but absolutely love the insitu pics. Great idea the views from the top. Beautiful! May I ask you at what dpi they're printed? Especially the large ones? I hope we don't have to provide 100-dpi mammoth files for the large sizes?

it would be good to know if the outdoor rugs are scotch guarded and if the indoor rugs are stain-resistant need to know for families that have pets/kids.  Outdoor is slip resistant (I think I read that) does the indoor need a pad underneath it to make it slip-resistant?  Would be helpful to know how to clean it.

Merchandising would you consider a Traditional home view rather than all modern? A bedroom view, as the area rugs are used in many rooms of the home and the different views would allow the customer to see that they "need" an area rug in their office, kids' room, under the dining room table...

Thank you for adding the "This style only" publishing option!😊

Thanks for the Style Only publishing option.
I suggest adding a "rectangular only" which includes all rectangular shapes EXCEPT the Runner and Round ones that can be published separately with the style only option. This way you can basically create 3 designs and get all sizes served well.

As someone who has as a 'customer' hunted on many occasions for a specific design theme for a rug, the addition of rugs is great! If I wasn't now 'all-rugged-out' I'd myself be a customer. When I get around to it, I'll be creating a few. Thank you for adding them! Curtains and wallpaper next please!

I couldn't upload the file I created using the PDF guide. I got a warning that said I had to resize it smaller by 5 GB!

I cannot believe you actually need the design to be 300ppi for printing on fabric too! Isn't 150ppi enough?

Also, the little girl's bedroom shows up in the outdoor rugs style instead of in the indoor style category.

A short pre-info, working on a more detailed Tips & Tricks post I'll post later on.

  • Forget the PDF guide. It's based on sizes and their resp. ratios and is a vector PDF that will be imported at the dpi/ppi value chosen by yourself in software like Photoshop or Photopaint.
  • Such rugs are commonly printed at 50-70 dpi, no need for huge 300 dpi/ppi, so the largest 12x9' / 144x108" size can be easily served with image sizes starting at around 7200 x 5400 pixels assuming a 50 dpi print (plus bleed). A competitor site requests an image size of  7400x5000 pixels for their 12x8' rug + bleed.
  • The designer tool requests a min. resolution of 100 dpi/ppi to avoid the dot on the rugs. This means 14400x10800pixels + bleed. tested it out and an image size of rounded 15000 pixels width works perfectly, "filled" on the 12x9' size.
  • So, while 7400 pixels are enough but the designer wants at least 14800 or so, create your image at 7500 pixels, then flatten it, resize to double the size (15000 pixels), sharpen, then save as high quality JPG (around 80% quality, more than enough). This should give you acceptable filesizes around 30 to 50 MB on more complex designs without having to give up any quality - you won't get ultrasharp or thin lines on large rugs made of rough fabric anyway.

Hope this helped. Will post a more detailed post later, also in regard to the image height, to get an image size that works on all sizes and ratios.

As long as you don't ask me to wear fancy superhero [latex] suits, you're welcome 😉 More will come, still checking it out and making my templates. Will post when I have the exact sizes so a design filled on the 12x9 size fits all other rectangular sizes/ratios well. Unless you want to stick to 15kx15k square designs which will then also fill the round area.

Let's also see if Zazzle can lower the min. requirements, added this to the technical report I just posted (there are some issues with vertical designs).

OHHH DANG!! I was just requesting Zazzle to offer superhero suits too, so I could design one for ya!!! 😁

Thanks so much again, this is awesome! Great that you are following through with much needed info and glad you added to the technical side of things. I'm still checking each one out to see how they all are.

I love the rugs but there are no texts the right size to fill up the rugs. The font sizes will not measure big enough.

Pixelan

Also encountered that issue, especially with the biggest rugs. The font size stops at 1000.

almdrs

The only files that work well for all the sizes are my vectors (SVG and AI). I can't resize my bitmaps to fit the larger sizes like 10' x 8' and 12' x 9'.

i DON'T KNOW HOW TO DELETE MY POST.

i GOT SOMETHING WRONG IN IT, WILL UPDATE WHEN i FIGURE IT OUT.

Why would I get a message that my latest rug design is under review? Because I make a mispelled word in the title?

Cherie

Yes, it was a mispelling in the title! It has been deleted, no answer is needed, I got it!

The concept of the area rugs is great, but I'm running into the same issue as I did with the Bath Towels and Beach Towels regarding what size file is needed?  Really wish the error message would include this information.

I love the idea of having rugs, however, I'm going to have to now upsize all the images I want to use on them. *SIGH*

I'd like to be able to better control the vertical and horizontal mock up photos, please.
I am currently trying to find the resolution requirements for the rugs, because an image i am attempting to use is said to be too small.

The designer requires a resolution of 100 dpi/ppi on rugs. Multiply the rug size by 100 and you will get the needed minimum image size in pixels. Round up for additional bleed to be safe, and if you allow the design to be printed on all available sizes, set the image size to the size for the largest rug.
