Hi all.

lm so excited , I just opened my store and will be adding my first products in the morning.  Can you tell me please what is a good number of products to have in my store when I open it.?  I was delightfully amazed at the amount old products we have to choose from.

  Thanks

Carol

The number of products does not matter much until you have viewers looking at your store. So starting with a few products and building from there, right along with your promotional efforts, is fine.

I am going to give you some non-intuitive advice. Since you haven't added any products yet and the sheer quantity and variety of products is large, you are probably tempted to use Quick Create to add to things in bulk. DON'T DO IT. If you use Quick Create, the products take far longer to appear in Zazzle because they have to be approved. You have to make your own templates (a learning curve in itself) and then you still have to go in to each product individually to adjust it.

A better approach to adding a particular design to multiple products is to put it on an initial product then use the Transfer Design option to transfer it to another product and so on. You would think that's slower but it's ultimately faster.

Zazzle has two huge differences from the other PODs. Use these differences to your advantage.

1)Unlike other PODs, Zazzle is optimized for working one product at a time rather than putting a single image on multiple products. The Zazzle design tool is more complex than in other PODs but with complexity comes power. There are multiple layers (unique among PODs) which allows you to build up complex designs in layers that can be shifted around to fit one design concept to many different products.

2)Zazzle has built itself around personalization so using this feature will help you get sales faster. A good place for newbies to start with that is by allowing customers to add their own name or monogram to your design. You do this by putting in your own sample name or monogram and then scrolling down the right side panel in the design tool and clicking the Make This Product A Template Button. You can use the circle and square (or triangle) found in the left side panel as frames for a monogram but DON'T USE ANY ICONS. Those are strictly for customers and will get the Sell It button greyed out. Also only choose a solid color background (if any). The design backgrounds are also only for customers.

When it comes to the number of products in a store, may here have found that they didn't sell until they had about a thousand products, and better yet, 3,000. This isn't by any means a rule since much depends on the quality of designs themselves, on promotion, and on just plain luck.

Welcome! Zazzle is an exciting place to have a store! There is no set number of products that is ideal for opening a store. While it does take time for sales to come, even one product can start selling right away, and you certainly don't want to miss out on any potential sales because you were waiting to have a set number up! Try to post a few different designs, not just all products of one design, so that customers have a variety to look at and choose from.

The answer is one. Make a product and post it. Don't complicate life. I had 6 products when I made my first sale.
