Search for Father's Day Cards ???

I just did a search with the words "Father's Day Cards" and "newest" and "funny" as a drill down. The first page has a lot of items with a pretty graphic on them and no text at all. They are not cards, which I can understand, if the word "father" was the one that was picked up. But it was just a picture, and a pretty one, but really feminine looking, and certainly weren't funny. Curious as to why they would be showing under Father's Day Cards, I clicked on one and looked at the tags...sure enough one of the tags was "father's day gift". Most of the other tags were (something, something) ... gift. It was really frustrating to me to have to scroll through things that are not specific to "Father's Day" to find what I was looking for. I am sure a lot of customers would just give up at that point. Is there anything that can be done to stop that sort of thing?

You can report with the button in the Other Info area, near the creation date for the item. "Report this design" leads to an area where you can report tag spam.

Hi @randysgrandma ,

Sorry to hear that this is happening for you. I have just tried to replicate this on my end, but all search results shown for me are relevant to the search terms used, I am not seeing any unrelated products. Would you mind passing along a screenshot of the search results shown for you if possible? I'll be happy to take a look. 🙂

I don't know how to do a screen shot, but when I tried it again, I got the same results. I keyed in "Father's Day Cards" in the search box and scrolled down to where you can pick from "popular, newest" I clicked on newest and then funny. I don't know why moderators can never seem to duplicate the problems we find. Ok here is the screen shot.

I was able to replicate the exact pattern seen by @randysgrandma  and this is my screenshot.

Hi @Emma  - in the same vein (weird search results)...if you put "pink watercolor" in the Z search box, then refine by category: rings (jewelry) - 105 results are returned.  Is there a reason this product would not be among them when 'pink' and 'watercolor' are in title and tags? 256626221947041875

I was able to find what you are referring to immediately. I didn't think we were allowed to "call out" other designers here but yes, it's the products with the flower on the black background. I followed the links back to the store and then to the designer who actually has several stores. It looks like this is a new/inexperienced Zazzler who might not have a clue what they are doing yet. Every product I looked at from each of their stores was all tag-spammed.

For instance, these

fathers day cards, fathers day shirts, fathers day mugs, the godfather t shirt, fathers day keychain, happy fathers day, newphew father daughter shirts, fathers day banner, cute fathers day cards, fathers day stickers

were the tags on both a laptop sleeve with the single-flower design and a doormat with a "best dad" theme.

And these were the tags on a fleece blanket with a fishing theme:

fishing signs, man i love fishing, fishing birthday party, fishing posters, milf man i love shing, funny fishing decals, fishing keychain, fly fishing t shirts, fishing wallet, fishing puzzle

One could spend all day reporting each product for tag spam. Better I would think if a Zazzle person contacts them to let them know that uhm hey, you need to fix all the tags on all your products

I see this constantly. Newbies are over and over again posting dozens of products with the same ten long tail keywords that simply do not apply.

Are these newbies using quick create to make these messes? Because if this VERY COMMON situation comes from tag spam which the quick create engenders, then Zazzle Engineering might want to head the problem off at the pass by interrupting the process somehow to help new users use those tags in a more targeted way.

(I have never even tried to use quick create, so maybe if I try it I will understand if this is how these problems arise.)

I didn't call out a designer, no names were mentioned. I simply reported a problem with no reference to a designer. I reported a design, not a designer.

I didn't feel like I was calling out a designer since I didn't mention a name. I really couldn't even tell you who the designer is, since I didn't really pay any attention to it. I really just meant to point out a situation that happens all too frequently and is very frustrating. It was Zazzle that asked for a screen shot which would reveal the designer. I didn't offer the information. I didn't want to get the designs pulled, which I was afraid would happen if I reported tag spam. It is a very appealing design. What I was hoping for is that the designer would be contacted by Zazzle and educated as to how to properly tag a design.

I never said or meant that you were calling out another designer. I sa!d " I didn't think we were allowed to, but yes, it's those designs.

What I didn't say was "but, [since a Mod asked for a publicly posted screenshot] yes, it's those designs… "

I typed in father's day cards, and went to newest - I didn't get anything graphic - but I did get the same card about 500 times - some exactly the same (at least on the outside) and some changing from dad to grandpa.  (Yes, I exaggerate, it wasn't 500 times - but quite a few)

I try to give wide latitude for tags when looking at items that seem to weirdly turn up in a search, because *I* may not think a design is "exotic"...but the designer does - fine.  But when there are tags that ABSOLUTELY cannot apply, it's infuriating.  And, it's not only bad for us, it's bad for Z, since it must frustrate customers as well.  Interestingly, in another thread we're discussing tags that ARE on the product...yet it still doesn't turn up in the search!
