Best Practices for Helping Customers Edit Instant Downloads?

I frequently get messages from customers who have already made a purchase but need help customizing their design. I generally just tell them to cancel their original order, and re-do it from a new template that incorporates the changes they requested.
But since they can edit the instant download after purchase, I'm wondering how to assist in this situation. Can the customer give us access to their download design with a share link or something like that? Just wondering how I should handle it when I get that question because I'm 99.99% sure the situation will arise.
