Maybe it’s just me … but I get motion sick very easily. All the boxes with graphics that move make me nauseous/dizzy. Is there a way to stop the motion? Usually it’s just one spot so I can scroll quickly or put my hand over it. But for some reason in the forums there seems to be movement everywhere.
Yes please! I suffer from visual migraines and that sort of thing is a big trigger for me. I’m assuming they’re animated gifs so it might be hard to turn them off - maybe some sort of user setting to see only a text interface without the big boxes?
I find the extra movement a big turn-off as well. Perhaps they can just remove the coding for the animated images and replace them with a regular image code. When I first got on the page my first thought was too visually overwhelming.
I might have a temporary solution if any of you guys use uBlock origin with your browser for ad blocking. You can use the element picker and block the specific images you don’t want. You can keep the titles and links to the articles and just block the images out. You would have to block every image you don’t want at least once.
It is of course not a perfect solution, but might help in the meantime.
I agree. I can’t even look at the front page today with the paper airplanes zipping around. It also triggers visual migraines for me as well. I am finding it hard to be on the forums for more than a few minutes.
I’m yet another person disturbed by all the motion. Years back, there was a way to stop things from moving with the keyboard. The ESC key maybe? If it could be done back then, surely there must still be a way.
Honestly, my headache was so bad this morning after dealing with all the blinking, that I would be happy just leaving the forum. However, I need to see the Zazzle News about new products and policies and sometimes the technical forum. I don’t see why it is so important to have everything move.
I’m wondering if maybe for the forum at least, they could make the post thumbnails static images and save the migraine/nausea inducing animations for the posts themselves?
I used the instructions for Firefox and it worked instantly, but be aware that the person writing the article must have been working with a slightly older version of the browser. The instructions nevertheless work as long as at the very end of them, you don’t look for an OK button. Instead, you need to click the ‘+’ on the far right of what you’re changing.
There are also instructions for a couple other browsers, and apparently the ESC button works for a few.
All I can say is that it was worth searching for and then implementing. I’m wiggle free!!!
The only motion on the page is at the bottom, which seems easy enough to avoid for now. We’re still working on the overall layout so we’ll keep these suggestions in mind.
