Can Somebody Please Explain This?

I just sold 20 copies of the same ornament. It should have been a decent royalty. The ornament is on sale today for $18.07, yet this customer only paid $5.32 per ornament. How is that possible? My royalty rate is 20%, yet I only made .53 per ornament. That’s approximately $11.00 royalty for 20 ornaments. What did Zazzle walk away with? I feel like I’ve been robbed.

Yes, I agree! It’s terrible when that happens and just doesn’t seem right or fair to the designer to get pennies or only a few dollars for their designed items sold, and with all these big fees imposed. And mostly getting 3rd party sales for a long time now. Sad…

Why was the customer able to pay only $5.00 per ornament when today’s sale price is $18.00?

Which type ornament was it? When I click on say my round or square ceramic ornaments or metal, etc. ornaments from options it shows different prices, and they’re on sale 15% off. Then there’s other types of ornaments such as pewter and cube also 15% off.

But am constantly every day all day for months now hit with the pop-up sale window for 25% off type thing too. So not sure.

ETA: I noticed my circle ceramic ornament is also on sale for $18.07.with 15% sale. I also have my royalty set to 20%.

It’s the standard round ceramic ornament, and the price is currently $18.00. Thanks!

I can’t figure it out. It’s crazy. I just sold a round ceramic ornament a few days ago and they paid $17 net price and I got $1.87 after fees. Was of course a referred sale, and ornaments say 40% nasty marketing fee…

I am so angry. $18.00 x 20 ornaments would have been $360.00 x 20% would have been $72.00, but I received $11.00. This is not right.

Plus have to minus the Excess Royalty Fee, and also minus the 40% Marketing Royalty Fee for referred sales.

This shows how little Zazzle values its designers.

volume discount? just a guess.

I’m wondering if the lower price is because of a volume discount. Since the customer ordered 20 of the same ornament, Zazzle may have kicked in one of its bulk-purchase discounts, reducing the price on each ornament.

Okay, I am remembering the scenario where I have gotten $0.0 royalties on a sale. It happened when there were a lot of upcharges. Do you see any of those. It happened when I sold signs and they bought an easel or a outdoor stand. I don’t remember how it got to zero. Maybe @ColsCreations will arrive and figure it out.

You see any more details on how the sale and numbers break down in the detailed royalty report for the sale? The bulk discount for 20 ornaments is “only” 20% so that doesn’t explain why a customer would pay $5 instead of $18 per ornament?

I don’t see any up charges. When/if Zazzle offers special pricing for bulk orders, they need to contact designers before approving the sale to ask designers if they will approve the use of their artwork for a mere .50. That is unfair and probably a misuse of my artwork.

Yeah for bulk ordering of qty of 15, 20, 50, etc. as noted on item page is 20% bulk discount (instead of the regular posted 15%) but that’s not much of a difference.

Customers can add the Velvet Gift Pouch for an additional $2.25 each. Does it say that they added this? Would a designer be penalized and get a reduced royalty fee amount paid to them just because of something like this? That’s crazy if that caused it.

The velvet gift pouch wasn’t ordered for the one ornament mentioned that someone ordered a few days ago of my item, so don’t know what happened with your sale.
