I created a cover image for a fabric design and it seems there is not a way to upload it, at least not in the usual way. Am I missing something, or is this yet another odd functionality of the fabric product. Can it be done somehow?
Your not missing anything. The fabric designer is a whole different interface. It doesn’t do a lot of the things the full design tool does, including give you ability to upload a cover photo…

Love your mock up. 
I would post this in the Technical Issues forum too. Although the user experience is different for those who create fabric (the page for this product is ancient) Z should know what is happening.
On another note, I’d create more fabrics if they’d update the system for it.
