What do you all do for the design orientation on the fleece blankets? I normally use the Medium size, so I make the design vertical so that it looks right side up with the women holding it. But then, if a customer switches sizes, the design will be sideways! Maybe this is why I never sell any? Medium is 50x60, which seems to be a standard size on other websites, so that’s why I choose that one for the default.
7 of my fleece blanket designs have sold. All but one were vertical designs. The horizontal design that sold was Large. Of the verticals, 2 designs each of small, medium and large have sold. So, at least on my sales, verticality seems more important than size.
I don’t know if customers changed the size from what I set it at. Finding out would require combing through search history in a way that I am not currently in the mood for. I just went to the most recently sold one; listed at medium vertical and not changed by the customer.
Since there is a huge price difference between small and medium, might be to your advantage to list the small size. The customer can always choose a different size, listing the price of the small would interest/invite them to shop because of the lower price. Possible reason for lack of sales, the higher price. If you have a design that runs horiz and switch the product to vert it will display sideways. But a reasonably experienced customer who looked because of your design, would know to change it to horiz. (Or hold their iPad sideways) Or to contact you, or to keep looking..
I design most of my blankets in the vertical/portrait orientation (which I feel is how they will tend to be used or displayed), using the large(st) size as the default. Not too worried about the women holding the blanket horizontally. ![]()
When I turn my iPad, the image flips and I still can’t see a sideways image properly.
This would be a good occasion for use of a personal cover photo, I guess. Can design small size and make a photo to show it properly.
That’s a good point about the price. But I don’t want to turn off potential buyers by a design that turned sideways. It looks dumb to me personally.
Good to know, thank you.
Yes, eventually! I have over 2500 products that need cover photos!
Thank you. This is good to know.
Two or three is a pleasure. 2500 is a chore!
