Difficult Times with the Design Tool Lately

I hope I’m not alone in feeling like the design tool is struggling a little.  I’ve found that over the past few weeks that it is bogged down.  Saving seems slow and I have to wait for it to do so before I can move on to the next part of the design.  Copy paste has been all over the place.  I find that if I ctrl+c only once and then ctrl+p it pastes from the previous time, not the object I just copied.  So I am now in the habit of hitting ctrl+c 2 or 3 times before I try and ctrl+p.  Also sometimes when it pastes, it places it somewhere else on the design field, not right where it was copied from.  I am also finding the dragging and object from place to place is sometimes jumpy.  I’ll move it from here to there and let go only to see it jump to somewhere in between.  I go to grab it again and the object shoots off a bit, I’ve still grabbed it, but not where I tried too.  And I have been running into the “Continue and try again”  (I think) pop up.  This used to happen if my wireless signal dropped.  Rare, but it happened from time to time.  It is the first thing I check when that pop up shows up.  But lately the signal is still strong and the pop up occurs.  Often when trying to copy paste.  Once or twice I have simply hit done and then been able to go back in and work.  But more often lately I can’t.  I have to close down that window… after checking that it saved… usually wait 5 - 10 minutes and then reenter the design.  Sometimes I can finish before the sillies start happening again.  Sometimes not.  I have not lost any work yet, but am struggling to get work done, that’s for sure.

Anyone else experiencing difficulties like these??  If it’s just me then maybe this laptop is getting tired… or something…

Thanks,

PC

I have recently been having all those issues —more and more over the last few days—and for some reason I had been assuming it was my tablet or user error.

It’s been very laggy last few days, very hard to work with.

I’ve been having those weird copy & paste issues as well. I’m on a mac & usually use safari. When that happens & I get fed up because I can’t get it paste the last thing I copied, I switch to chrome & it usually works fine.

Yes, I also noticed it and just stopped trying to design for now.  drag and drop is so slow to react that it is easier to use the keyboard to move things around, but not as precise.  It frustrated me after about 9 products I went to go do some cooking instead.

I have had similar issues, although maybe not quite to such a frustrating degree as some of you, but I have noticed it…i thought i might need to clear my cache although it seems like i just did that not too long ago… I use firefox as my favored browser.

It has been lagging for me for quite some time. I blame it on a slow IP provider but after reading this it makes more sense that it is not working right.

Hi All,

Very sorry to hear you’ve been experiencing these issues. I have let the team know now.

Thanks for posting this. It started when they added the Drag and Drop stuff. I have been having all of the above problems and then rectangles appear all over the place. It is much harder to design quickly and efficiently. I thought it was just me not adapting well to change, so I didn’t post.

Thanks @Mark for having the team look into it and THANKS to everyone that posted, as now I don’t feel it is my laptop or something that I am doing that is causing these issues.  I can’t remember if it started around the drag and drop time or the grouping and tiling time… but it has been on going for at least a few weeks.  And seems to be getting worse…  I wondered for a few days if it was somehow tied to the new forum…  Oh the things we wonder.  Hopefully things can get sorted as I have a plethora of designs that I would like to create.

Cheers,

PC

I feel funny “kudoing” everyone’s posts as I feel kudos should be a good thing and not an agreement that things aren’t quiet right…lol… but thanks again for everyone else chiming in.

I started noticing it when they rolled out the new drag to select thingy.  Ever since then it has been in super slo mo to react to anything.

I’ve been having trouble uploading but like kashmier I have been blaming my IP.

I am glad you mentioned that because I almost forgot that my images have not been uploading recently either.  I get an error message 9 out of 10 times which has kept me from making fresh designs.

I was also going to blame my slow connection but I can upload to other sites without issues.

Hi again,

If you can let us know what browser and device you are using please do. I will pass that info onto the team as well.

Hi Mark,

I am on a desktop using Brave Browser (Chrome build) and Windows 10 all up to date.

I have fiber internet, the fastest package money can buy, and frequently upload folders of photography that are 2+ gigs in size in just a few short minutes without a burp, and the zazzle design tool lags pretty bad for me sometimes.  It comes and goes.  But it gets so bad I literally have to just walk away because I can’t get anything done in a reasonable time.  We also play online games in this house that are very graphic intensive and they never lag, even with multiple people streaming games at the same time on busy mmo servers.  But if I’m working on my zazzle store and the only one home on the internet, I’ll experience lag on the zazzle design tool, which shouldn’t happen.  I highly doubt it’s on my end.  And since so many other people are experiencing it, I’m quite sure it’s on zazzle’s end.

I posted about this in the technical forum. It used to be a slight lag once in a while, which is normal for any site, but the past few days it’s been practically unusable. I posted the Speedtest results in the other thread: Ping: 22, Download: 118.42, Upload: 11.76. I’m on Firefox, Windows 7, but it’s a fast gaming laptop, and Zazzle is the only site having issues.

Latest FF browser, Win 10, both up to date.

Happens on my iPad with Chrome.

I have always found copy and paste in the design tool a bit temperamental.

I have found though that if you copy, -WAIT A BEAT- then paste, it performs the paste correctly.
