Does this bother anyone else? Pop-up Toolbar for Text

The small pop-up toolbar that appears whenever you add a text box is quite frustrating. It covers the text directly above the box you just inserted, making it difficult to see what you’re editing. I have to keep clicking out of it while working.

If this has already been discussed, I apologize—I searched the forum but couldn’t find anything about it.

It would be great if the toolbar could be repositioned automatically so it doesn’t obscure content, or have an option to disable or minimize it.

It was hard to get used to at first, but I think it’s pretty standard for design apps. One thing is that there are more than twice the number of users that use their phones to purchase than there are who use their computers/desktop (in my google stats anyway), so a lot of end users/buyers probably don’t see this. Now that you mention it, it would be kind of nice if we could dock it.

Oops *who use their phones.

I definitely hit it on accident many times when it first appeared which was frustrating. I am pretty used to avoiding it now, but I do wish that it could be moved if wanted. Especially when working on things like invitations or wherever text is tighter. I’ve had it completely cover a text box before and it added yet another step of having to click out, and then click in to the other box. Whereas before I could just click from one box to the other.

Hi all,

Thanks for your feedback here. I’ll let the team know.

Yes! This is exactly what happens to me - click out, click in - click out, click in
I wish we had the option to move it out of the way

+1.

It would also be great if the ‘Selling Options’ tab was easier to find.
It would be easier to check our Selling Options if they were displayed in the Layers section with our Template Field name (Your Text Here) and URL Parameter name (text1).

I take it back, yes it’s definitely an issue sometimes. We need to be able to move it. I am trying to change one font to look good with the other, but it is sitting completely over the one I’m trying to make it look good with.

I take it back too. For some reason I thought you were talking about the long toolbar way above at the top. Yes, this small tool tip thing is a huge pain. Zooming in and out helps somewhat, but we need to be able to close it or have the option of turning it off in settings. It’s handy for fast work changing colors, but it’s horrible for design work.

The ‘rotate’ icon that is normally around images once you click on them, keeps getting hidden under this pop up, making it impossible to use. Sometimes it’s barely peeking out and I can grab it, but sometimes it is completely hidden. This would be another one (like the text one) that would be better if we could move it or opt-out. I personally do not use either one. Also the green ‘safe area’, can’t tell you how often it’s in the way too.

If I could ‘Kudo’ this 100 times, I would! This is one of those things that drives me crazy…lol.

It seems to be doing it more frequently too, ugh!

I’m not sure why this got moved out of technical. I REALLY hope this is not expected behavior now because it’s impossible to design without the rotate icon.

zoom in, zoom out, go on the Alignment context menue…
Yes, it drives me crazy! And if you ever try or have to use a different domain, you will quit doing something. On the translated zazzle.de page it stops after one move, can’t change anything.

Thank you all for the feedback. We have sent this to internal team for consideration.

Haven’t designed anything in a while so just now experiencing this. It’s terrible. When one selects text the whole top toolbar for editing it appears so why is this annoying little balloon menu necessary? It’s not just an annoyance for designers, it doesn’t allow customers to see an un-obstructed view of the design, either. Even if it is not covering other text (which it often does) it’s a blight on visualizing the overall design. Menus need to be kept off the canvas.

That would be great. That and the ‘safe area’ box at the top of each section. All it does for me is get in the way of actually seeing if the image is cut off at the top or not. It would be nice if we could adjust these things in our back office. There are so many things that are just in the way. The ability to see more than a few font styles without having to try to locate the top of the box and go to the arrow and move right and do it again and again and back to left and it is horrible. I am using a 13" screen laptop and it irks me to get slowed down by so many things.

That reminds me of the option to turn the text. It used to be 30 degrees with each click but now it is 15 why?

Anyone figure a way to set images on the socks so they look seamless on the bottom? I have just given up on so many socks because I can not make them look like on flowing piece of material. I loved making them when you could see the bottom view of the item and adjust it to fit right. Maybe it is just me but those and paper cups are impossible to make correctly. I have not made a dartboard with this new set up and am wondering how that is going to go. I have an entire store for just dartboards but they were made when it was easy to see each layer and adjust it.
