Looks great!

Could there be a category for business posters? I just had a request from a customer for a sandwich board street sign. I know Zazzle doesn’t offer that particular product but businesses can buy an A-frame snap poster holder and use this to display posters for street advertising and marketing.

I found — Wall Art & Décor > Wall Accents & Treatments > Wall Signs

Your list shows – Art & Wall Décor > Wall Accents & Treatments > Wall Signs

I’m looking for something to show in HOME decor for poster PICTURES that might be framed. I guess Home & Living > Home Décor > Home Accent might work??  I’m sticking with Wall Art & Décor > Posters & Prints.  This is the most general area (I prefer fewer more general oranization than an explosion of minute break downs (wedding posters, dog posters, business posters, gardening posters …) the specific audience can be mentioned in the tags.

My immediate thought too.

Certainly, posters can be one-time special occasion items, but four out of the seven categories? Two more essentially focused on kids? I sell posters that are specifically for wall decor, and they’re not anything that would ever be called a “wall sign.” There has to be some method of creating a category for “wall art” that’s distinct from signs, not a sub-category of signs. There are too many of them ignore.

When I initially looked at the post I thought huh!?, there is no option for just general art posters?? But, the 7 departments listed aren’t the only ones, they’re apparently just 7 new ones. I went to fake-publish a new poster and was presented with 24 departments to choose from, including the seven new ones. Well, almost. Only six of the seven are there. #2 is missing from the list which just may be a temporary oversight.

List of new departments Department options when publishingSo if a poster doesn’t fit in any of the other 23 specific-use departments, it would have to go in the first option listed for general wall art & decor - poster & prints.

This is where i wish Zazzle would implement searching within a department. As is, you can enter your search terms and then drill-down by department using the “refine by category” filter. (Which right here is confusing because the language is inconsistent, is it a category or a department?). But the filter is not user-friendly as you can’t see where you’re going until you get there. In this case there are six main categories to choose from and you don’t know what subcats are under them until you pick them. It’s a lot of back & forth and guessing as you don’t know what what you’re looking for might be classified under. If one could instead navigate to a specific category/department first, such as
Weddings –> Decor & Party Supplies –> Decor –> Wedding Signs –> Seating Charts and then
enter their search terms to search only that thing_,_ I think that would be much more user-friendly and efficient.

There is one already:

Office & School > Promotional Products & Small Business Supplies > Business Signs & Posters

It’s just not listed with the new categories.

I would love a subsection for calendar posters (and other products with full-year calendars on them) to separate them from traditional wall calendars with multiple pages.

I remember posters being something a student might put upon the wall in his/her college accommodation, to brighten the place. Not sure what the category for such wall art would be…

Ah yes, that makes sense.

@BKMuir  , well spotted.:sports_medal: I have updated this on our list now. Looks like it was updated after this copy was made. Thanks!

Now that posters have been broken into several categories, it appears that posters intended for children are in two groups – nursery posters and kid posters. I’m wondering if these two categories should be combined? Are nursery posters and kid posters different enough to warrant two categories? There would at least be quite a bit of overlap.

I suspect Zazzle is separating posters used to decorate a room meant only for babies and a room for slightly older children. But what, exactly does this mean? Toddlers, those in nursery school, those in elementary school?

I think you’re right. Children would be a better, single category. Too much overlap, making it difficult to choose. What age, for instance, would a poster with a cute elephant be appropriate to?

Home decor, seasonal, holiday decorative but not necessarily wedding, craft, or kids..what department would landscape, floral wildlife, still life home accent posters go into. The kind of posters that you would give to someone at a housewarming party or to hang at their business.

As kids posters don’t further have subcategories… one is a kid/child till they turn 18.  At least in the US…  One is in a nursery until … 1,2 maybe three at the oldest…  So I think that there is a world of difference between nursery and kid…

Just my 2 cents…

For the likes of me, what’s missing is a dedicated space for workshops. woodworkers, metalworkers, picture framers, etc. Not the man cave stuff but something for everyone who works in crafts or trades and wants wall art for their workshop. I sell a ton through Redbubble.

I agree. Wall Signs is much to specific. I too use Wall Art & Decor>Posters & Prints

Speaking as a retired research librarian, too many options only serves to reduce search efficacy. Trim down that massive list to improve both the creator and the customer experience.
