Early on in the new forum, the threads were set up with a threaded structure so I could easily see who was replying/reacting to whom. I turned it off, but now I want to go back to it. For the life of me, I can’t find the spot to do so. Can someone lead me to it?

Make that under your avatar in the drop down menu.
on your profile page go to My settings>preferences then across the top there are tabs and you will see Linear layout and threaded . Under the linear layout there is also a threaded option. I am not sure which one is what you are looking for but hope that helps!
I don’t seem to have a tab anywhere for My settings or Preferences. Obviously, I’m looking in the wrong places. The drop down under my avatar gets me nowhere, and the only tabbed area is the one in my Account, which has nothing to do with the forum. Lost puppy.

I clicked on my avatar, clicked on the Settings tab, and found absolutely no Preferences anywhere, other than in email settings. Is there anywhere the avatar is found other than in our store?
Upper right corner of the page you are looking at now is where I am seeing my avatar. This is where I find my forum preferences. I do not access this avatar through the store, which I think is what you are saying you are doing.
Windy, my avatar doesn’t show anywhere here on the forum, though it must have at one point, given that I initially changed out of the threaded format. This is weird.
Aha! I found the problem! I’ve been ignoring the cookie message at the top, not bothering to accept. I clicked it just now, and by golly, there’s my avatar. LOL I’ve gotten so used to cookie messages on every site all over the internet that I long ago stopped paying attention to them

@Barbara scroll to the top of this page then look at the extreme right corner and you should see your avatar. Click on it and you should get a drop down menu with “settings” then click that and you should see “preferences” from there you should see the threaded choices. I hope this helps!
