I do know Ctrl A selects all - easiest way I found to deselect all is just click on any other layer after (but then you’ve selected that layer you just clicked on)

Sorry - I am of no use 😂

eta Though I have just found if you click your mouse in the white area surround - that deselects everything - again not helpful as that’s not a keyboard shortcut

Thanks for trying @Sara_H    I have found myself designing products where the images extend in every direction covering even the white or grey area outside of the design space.  I have found the Deselect all in the edit dropdown, which is great.  But a keyboard short cut would be just a tad bit faster…

I feel your frustration - shame we can’t create custom keyboard shortcuts in the design tool - wishful thinking
