It happened again - Spam buyer?

Well, it has happened again.

A “buyer” selects the same business card that I designed every single time, orders several, waits a certain period and then cancels the order. I have been warned that this a way for these horrible people to test stolen credit cards. The city is always the same “Wilkes Barre Township.”

This is now the third time. Then I get the pink “cancelled” notice on my dashboard.  I am about to take the product down entirely, but hoping Zazzle will finally help.

Why can’t Zazzle block these people who have a repeat pattern of cancelling orders? Warn them, block them - anything.

This is very upsetting.

Never heard of such a thing, I am sorry this happened to you. Don’t remove the product, I hope Zazzle will be handling this accordingly, they probably know now that these people are up to no good. Good luck!

@LoveToCreate   You are welcome :slightly_smiling_face:

It is very common unfortunately, not just on Zazzle. They are hard to stop because they use many different tools, change locations constantly, names, credit cards, etc.   I have this happen on Shopify as well where they skip the cart and classic checkout entirely. Thankfully only a tiny percentage of them go through, but they are very recognizable to know to cancel.

I would not delete your item, it does not cause you any harm (other than the bummer of a canceled order). Zazzle is likely getting hit with a non-refundable credit card processing fee every time though, so I’m sure they already are doing everything they can.

@LoveToCreate  I just had an order cancelled after we spoke imagine that. I know now exactly how you feel, oh well, I hope it’s a genuine cancellation never happened to me before

PS. By the way the product was bought today also.

oh no. I’m sorry to hear that happened to you too.

I hope they can find a way to block repeat cancellation buyers.

@LoveToCreate   Thank you. Definitely I too hope so that they will take care of troublemakers that’s not fair to do for sure.

“it does not cause you any harm (other than the bummer of a canceled order)”

It might. It may depend on how big the order was but I have experienced first-hand an immediate (within 12 hr) drop in zRank after a large order was canceled and I know one other designer who experienced the same thing - immediate drop in zRank after a bulk order went pink.

I was afraid of that.

Zazzle needs to address this.

It’s possible, especially since there are many unknowns about zRank.  But I do have bulk orders cancelled almost every week and my zRank hasn’t changed in nearly 2 years.

It can be very upsetting. I had one sticker that got purchased and returned 5 or 6 times a day, several days a week. It went on for 4 or 5 weeks. It had gotten no other views or sales in 3 years, I really felt better deleting. Even though my Zrank didn’t change, it felt creepy.

That I can definitely understand. And I’m sure it’s more of a case by case decision. I agree if it’s not getting any other sales or views than the scammer. But if it’s a best seller otherwise, then in that case it would likely harm me more to remove. I guess I should have added that originally in my note.

Sorry that happened. This is an awful problem that I hope can be addressed.

I guess that “hiding” the product for awhile is not the answer.

LOL, if I had thought of that, I would have tried it first!
