I use semi transparent .png images in many of my designs, because it allows me to drop the same semi transparent white image (like the stars pictured) on to any background color to give me a lighter tone of that color.
The mask feature is now affecting all of those images/products, as shown in the attached picture, making the backgrounds almost invisible. It’s also darkening .png images with no transparency, but it makes these semi transparent images almost invisible, as you can see.
EDIT: Just to add, my use of semi transparent .pngs predates the addition of the opacity control, this wasn’t an option when the products were created.
