My Visibility Test With Anne’s Rooster Clock

I wanted to share something that really confirms that product visibility is the big Zazzle problem. I chose Ann’s rooster clock  for this test because she has a wonderful store, she’s done everything right, and she even uses charm pricing  yet she still has no sales.

In the last 12 hours, I wrote a simple blog post about her farmhouse rooster clock, pinged it, shared it in my promote your posts group at FB, and added one manual pin that went directly to her store on my Blogger Reading Room board on Pinterest. That’s all I did.

When I circled back(12 hours later) , the blog post was already sitting in the #1 spot for Readers’ Favorites. I’ve attached the screenshot of Ann’s post in the top position, and you can also see the manual pin showing 22 views and 10 click‑throughs. That tells me people are looking, they’re liking what they see, and they’re clicking straight into Ann’s store. That’s nearly a 50% click‑through rate , which is extremely high most creators would be thrilled with 5–10%.

Nothing about the clock changed not the design, not the price, not the listing. The only thing that changed was that it finally had visibility.

And the moment it was actually seen, it performed. Promotion for visibility, plus charm pricing, might be the boost some of us need right now but charm pricing only works when customers actually see the product.

For me, this whole test really confirms what so many of us have been feeling: this isn’t a design problem, it’s a visibility problem, plain and simple.

I just can’t thank you enough, Susan. And you are totally right about the visibility problem.
It’s on page 2 now at a Zazzle search for “rooster clocks”. Will keep an eye on it.

It’s a beautiful clock, Anne.

Reading this made me wonder where “my” rooster clock appears. … It doesn’t.

Even when refining the search with specific terms in my product - the search does not locate the clock.

I changed some tags to see if that will bump up the indexing.

Anne, this is such wonderful news  congratulations on your rooster clock moving up to page 2 in the marketplace. That’s a big step forward, and it proves exactly what I suspected: people respond to your artwork the moment they actually see it.

Your rooster clock is beautifully designed, and absolutely deserving of traffic. All it needed was a little internet marketing pointed at the right places. Once the visibility kicked in, the clicks and interest followed immediately. That tells me your store should be getting far more attention than it has been.

Please keep me posted on how your marketplace placement shifts over the next few days. The Zazzle marketplace is still the best place for sales because customers go there ready to shop. I’m thrilled to see your clock finally getting the attention it deserves.

At times, I have searched for the exact title on one of my products, and it still does not appear. That tells me that Zazzle needs to improve their search engine.

Now if only we all had someone like you to write blog posts for all our products!!:face_savoring_food: You’re right about visibility but the ability to create a blog or website is just not a skill I possess … I’m not a chatty person and writing like you have would take me three months and fifty rewrites! So I spend a tremendous amount of time promoting via Pinterest and other social media platforms and most of that has to be done manually to create decent posts.

@Baylee  You are so right. I am so blessed that Susan did this for me! I have a website, but it doesn’t have visitors, that’s another skill. Thanks, @Susang6

@Baylee  You described my situation. I had two blogs for years. No matter what I tried they were a flat out waste of time for me and probably because I didn’t like working on them. So now I focus on Pinterest. I used to make all manual pins but now I’ve started using the Zazzle share pins because we can edit/add the title and description which someone here in the community shared a few weeks ago. Sorry, I forgot who it was.

lol .. actually that was me @PAZP  and since I posted that I’ve been mixing it up a bit, creating a few manually and a few using the share button just to see if there is any difference in traction. I totally get how you feel about blogging though, I’ve never even bothered to try one because I know I’d crash and burn.

I have been saying that about “need to improve search” since I began in 2010!!!

Update: it has now double the views, but did not move anywhere in the search results, it’s on the same spot on page 2. Last viewed 5 days ago. I would still consider this hopeful, thanks so much Susan!
