I was looking through some of the postings in the Show Me /Alphabet category where I also have some postings. I noticed that while all the other postings seem to have the possibility of the heart icon (a like) though not all have had it turn pink, my postings are missing entirely the heart icon. Just made me wonder if when posting I did something wrong though the other two icons are there. Heaven knows, I am not sure about how to do things in this new Forum but I thought I at least knew how to post after the initial phase. Since even if the heart is there, it does not mean anyone will turn it pink, but I would feel better if they had the opportunity to like a posting if they choose.
You don’t see the heart icon on your own posts unless someone has liked a post of yours. All other posts will have the icon for you to like them. It will not show for you to like your own post.
ETA: I have liked your post so that you can see if you see the heart icon now.
I learned something new. Thank you.
Hi KarinS–thank you for taking time to try and address my question. I do not know why I have never noticed that before (that there was no heart until someone “liked” a post. But I was thinking that I have seen the heart appear before but just grayed out, meaning no one has liked it yet. Thank you again.
I forgot, KarinS, another thing that I wonder about is I do see grayed out hearts when I look through the postings on Show Me. So, if someone “likes” your post then why are some of the ones I am seeing are gray and some are pink? In my case, you have explained why I do not even see a heart AT ALL, but what about the others I see that are grayed out hearts?
Is not a pink heart what shows up if someone “likes” your post? What does it mean when someone has a heart but it is gray? I just want to make sure that I understand. Seems like such a trivial thing to be concerned about, I guess. I must be missing the point somewhere in your explanation. Being a little obtuse, I guess!
A pink heart is when you liked the post. A gray heart is when someone else liked the post.
Nothing trivial about it. It doesn’t hurt to ask questions when something concerns you. And there’s always somebody who can answer. ![]()
Well, okay, then. Mystery solved! Thanks again KarinS!
