Personalized Napkins: Quality Consistency Concern

Has anyone noticed a difference in print quality when personalization is added to napkins?

A repeat customer recently received an order where the printing was described as unsatisfactory and it noticeably took away from the artwork. What’s interesting is that this same customer has ordered non-personalized napkins before and had consistently excellent results.

The only variable this time was the addition of personalized text.

As designers, that’s concerning, because we rely on the final product to represent our work well. When the print quality falls short, it reflects back on us.

Curious if others have seen this with personalized napkins, or if there are known limitations with how personalization prints on this product.

Would appreciate any insight or best practices.
