I ordered some invitation samples and the colors are lacking. Is this normal? One in particular is supposed to be sage green but it arrived in a dull grey color. The color works nicely it’s just not what I ordered and now I’m worried about large print jobs. Is this a one off issue, or am I going to run into different colors with the printing job?
You could be using an out-of-gamut color. Those are colors that printers can’t print properly and they often come out grayish.
In both Photoshop and Illustrator you can enable an out-of-gamut warning when you are choosing colors.
To enable this feature, go to View > Gamut Warning.
There is probably a similar option in other design programs.
Thanks for this tip @Jadendreamer13 😃 I didn’t know that existed in PS…very handy.
