I really thing Zazzle should reconsider REQUIRED products for cross-sell collections. We are going to end up with a lot of useless, non-selling products just to meet the requirements. For example, I have several Christmas collections that have matching products that are geared toward gift wrapping, and the designs aren’t very conducive to photo Christmas cards. Non-photo cards aren’t very popular, but that’s the only way to make the collection into a cross-sell collection. And I need it to be a cross-sell collection so that hopefully people will buy the gift wrap and the matching stickers and gift tags. So basically I have to make non-selling products just to fill the slot, and clutter up my store! Plus, doesn’t it hurt our Zrank if we have a poor percentage of products to sales?
Required Back To School t shirts, required Thanksgiving mugs…It is not optimal.
Greeting cards also have nothing to do with wrapping paper at all. Greeting cards are sent out as standalone items. Most people who receive them in the mail don’t get a present with it!
It is tags and ribbon for the present that could potentially be part of a set to sell with the wrapping paper. This is what I am thinking of as I’m revamping my collections.
I get that some things lean naturally toward having a required product, but I agree some of them don’t make sense. I’d even be cool with having a choice of required product. For example, for the back to school, instead of the required product being tshirts. You would have to have one of 3 required products say, tshirts, notebooks or laptop cases. Then you could at least choose a required product to fit the collection. I now have a back to school collection with notebooks, and folders…and a tshirt. Which it kind of awkward. lol
Right! I can see the magic product being something like a water bottle before a t-shirt.
Hi, how do I know where is the require product written? where is the indicator? I was on my back to school collection right now, but I don’ know where was Required products written.
ah nevermind, I found it… LOL, it was under coss sales.. I never choose option before. stupid me
Hi @Connie ,
Thank you for your feedback and expressing your concerns on this. I’ll take note of this for our team for you for review.
All the best,

The current Christmas Collection is really all about Cards. The buyer typically shops earlier and is looking to get the family Christmas Cards sent out. We’ve added more products to this collection to generate excitement, inform the customer that we have more products they may like and hopefully generate impulse or return purchases. We are currently evaluating how to best handle the bigger Christmas season to address things like gift wrapping and parties but we haven’t landed on a solution yet. More exciting news to come in the next couple of weeks.
You are correct, Christmas Cards are seen by customers as a separate event. Therefore, this collection is all about Christmas Cards. We will be addressing the wrapping paper and party needs in the coming weeks.
Thank you for the update. I’m looking forward to the exciting news!
Well, thank the Lord. I don’t think it’s fair I can’t have a Zazzle email message option for my Christmas card Collection that is JUST cards. (similar product/theme)
do customers also buy some christmas stickers and christmas tags? maybe we can get a little insight from you 🙂
and maybe some advice about cards, cause there are so many types, like invitation cards, postcards, holiday cards… etc.
Connie you only need to do 4 required products for the collection to display, so pick the 4 you feel most beneficial and create a media /collection image that guides the customer to the ‘transfer’ option to create additional products OR to use the Live Designer OR to contact you, see my sample:
I have suggested to Zazzle that they create a media image such as this that will automatically be added to ALL products on Zazzle where the seller is happy for the item to be ‘transferred’ to other product types and ‘customized’ etc.
