Show Category Titles setting not working as expected

Opening a new ticket on behalf of @Maralane  

Often this setting reverts back to showing titles despite having this setting unchecked.

Usually, I could check it and save, then uncheck again and it fixes the issue. Now however no matter what I do the titles are enabled. This is problematic as I have custom category images so it makes the page look sloppy. This may be impacting sales
