Templates for customers to create

Looks like customers can now use design templates of our work in the design tool?

Potential upside of making the text template navigation easier.

Has downside of diverting potential customers away from your product as they can replace an in progress personalization at any time with someone else’s design template. ie if they like your design and are going to personalize, this can be easily replaced with someone else’s template right in the design tool

So like they can use the text template from your product with someone else’s artwork?? Can you post a screen shot or something? Not sure if I haven’t stumbled upon this or just don’t recognize what you’re referring to.

Edited to Add… I poked around a bit - are you referring to the templates thing that shows up in the left hand column in the design tool? It looks to me like this is just another way to show customers a bunch of different designs, but it doesn’t transfer any of the information or the layout. Are we talking about the same thing?

Hi @Harmony_S

I’m so sorry for any confusion caused. Can you please share a screenshot and/or link so I can look into this for you?

I asked the same question, but, I think this is a new function at all. On the left menue in our shop backend are (today moving, from first to 5 position) a new directory for templates.
Looks like this:

…. ok, sorry, we are not able to upload images still yet. Tryed as a 5 minute work to show it up here. Because the image function is broken, I just inserted all screenshots in a brochure. I will delete it some day, it’s just because this… image function:

Hi Beth, sorry I mention this, there is another post about the problems here in this community area. We are not able since days to post images directly.

the error message “SSL_connect returned=1 errno=0 peeraddr=10.1.176.20:443 state=error: certificate verify failed (unable to get local issuer certificate)” appears whatever Image you try to insert. So, for this i took the way with my brochure…

Sorry all I make one more note here:

For days or even weeks now, it seems like we’ve all had this new tab on the left in the backend under “Products” – something like “Templates, Images, Digital Assets” – if you’ve been paying attention.

As of today, the tab is still there, but it no longer shows any templates. It was still showing them this morning.

When you visit a shop as a regular customer and need to personalize something, you see the tool again. From what I can tell, it probably shows templates from across Zazzle (I’m not 100% sure) – popular ones from a specific product category.

I’ve clicked around so much now that I’ve noticed they’re mostly from high‑rank shops, but not exclusively. Friends have found their own templates there.

At the very bottom of the sitemap there’s a section called “Maker” – the last paragraph – with lots of landing pages I hadn’t noticed before. Those also contain templates. I don’t know if they’re the same ones or if there’s a connection, but the “Images” from there seem to be the same ones customers see.

What I really want to know is: what do I get out of these templates appearing in my shop? As far as I can tell, you can’t turn them off. And from my tests, when a customer switches templates, they’re effectively kicked out of your shop. New windows keep opening, which is already driving this experienced Zazzler crazy. I can only hope customers can deal with it, because each new window makes the site slower, and for two products I tested, the preview didn’t even load anymore.

I suspect they just forgot to tell us something – whatever that “something” may be.

I really appreciate all the work that goes into new features, but I have to be honest: it’s extremely demoralizing to invest so much time here over months and then suddenly see a feature like this appear without any explanation at all. It truly feels like a hard punch to the gut. The tool itself may be great, but the lack of clear communication has become so confusing that it’s simply unbearable right now. Good luck as all, I shut off my computer and leave until some clear informations will appear. You’ve really done me in Zazzle.

Wow, this is awful, you click on a design you want to order and it takes you to a generic screen, I could not figure out how to get paste this template screen to the item I was interested in, if I were a customer I would have left instantly and shopped elsewhere. Customers click on products to order that product.
