The curious disappearing RF tag

I just came across something. Maybe it’s nothing, maybe it’s something when it comes to getting credit for sales referrals. I was going to make a few changes to my website since I haven’t worked on it in forever and noticed something. I have most of my links set up with my “associate” or “ambassador” ID to make sure if somebody comes in on one of my links and they end up buying something else, I’ll get “something” for a referral. While I was working I clicked this link - https://www.zazzle.com/rmorgan_snapshots/products?rf=238175473570418167 which goes directly to my Products link in my store. So this is where it gets curious. Upon the page first opening, the RF number is shown at the end of the link in the browser but then immediately disappears.

So I wondered. Maybe it’s because I’m logged in to Zazzle. Logged out, same outcome. Then I wondered if it did it linking to the “Home” tab? Same outcome. So my question here is. If we link to our own page and use the RF ID, is it “defaulting” to a “clean” link? So if someone comes in on that link but then they go on to buy something else on Zazzle, are we not then going to get a referral credit? Maybe I’m looking at this all wrong? This whole “ambassador” change last April has been so confusing and nobody seems to have been able to figure it out. Combine that with the lack of sales and any sales that DO happen to occur are almost 100% third party and it has you questioning EVERYTHING you come across. BTW if I come in to one of my products from a direct link off my website what includes the RF ID, the number remains in the browser window.

Thoughts?

@RMorganSnapshot    My thought is that you shouldn’t worry about it (the rf link disappearing in the status bar) because it will still be tracked as a Cross-Promotion Link. I can say that confidentially because I have purchased some leggings on 4/4/2026, 7:49:43 AM from a fellow creator and I did receive the referral commission of $6.75. But I admit I wondered for a moment too because I as well noticed the rf link vanishing in the status bar.

It’s just generally quite slow for a number of reasons. And I‘m as unhappy as everyone else about the April 1st 2025 changes but Zazzle is tracking our sales if possible (there are reasons when it doesn’t pan out but that’s not Zazzle’s fault).
