We can no longer tweak or update old designs

With the new dreadful design center, we can’t tweak, update or alter already published designs such as greeting cards. We have to start from scratch. Who all misses that feature? I do very much so. Please zazzle, bring this option back to us – and truthfully we creators should be able to opt out of the new design tool and be able to use the previous one that we loved. Sidenote; Can anyone tell me how to enlarge/zoom images without using my fingers on the screen? Thanks.

Can’t agree more.
Sidenote: I see a + and - at the bottom of the “design tool” to zoom (PC, windows)

Are you talking about the Replace feature?

@marsh4  I see the button, but when I click on it,  nothing happens.

There are two Sell buttons (don’t know why): one at the top, which does nothing when you click it, and a larger one at the bottom that works.

No, I often don’t want to replace the original product. I just wish to alter it and make a different version. I did that frequently. For instance a greeting card with the same image but different sentiment, or a different image on front with same sentiment. A customer rep (live chat) said sorry, now, with new design tool, you have to start from scratch.

No, I’m talking about already published products. Live rep said they now can’t be changed and republished.

I have edited and re-published multiple items today, the same way that we always could. I even just double checked on one from 2015 and that one is fine as well.

I agree I have been doing everything I always did with the new design tool, whether it is making new products or republishing older products.

I’m also having this problem. I have many pre-2010 greeting cards that still sell well but need updated or removed logo images on the back. I cannot change anything, it’s all "locked’ and un-selectable in the new tool.

There are some feeds on the forum about previously locked items. I’m not sure where those are. But I believe Zazzle was aware same items were having issues if the designer had locked them in the past.

So, I’m a bit perplexed because you stated that you wanted to “make a different version” of an original design.  And you’re saying that a Zazzle rep (live chat) said that we can no longer do that?
Well, I had to check this out myself, and I just opened my last designed product, clicked on the Layers, picked the image I wanted to change and at the top it has “Change Image”.  So I did.  I then clicked to make sure my custom text templates stayed in place (yes, they did.).  Then, clicked over to “Review”.  And once I did, I had the option to Sell it or Replace it.  I chose to Sell it as a new design.
I saw no problems in doing it this way, as I’ve been doing this for a couple of days now.  So, I’m wondering if you’ve missed any steps, or could it have been some sort of technical issues?  Curious.

*One thing I did notice, recently, in doing something new, that I hadn’t.  I used the same design and transferred it to a new product.  When I did that it went to the “Public Designer Tool”.  But it gave me the option to choose from using it, or the regular designer tool that we normally use.  Once I clicked over on that, I had no problems checking texts and images.

Thank you. That’s what I was afraid of. That’s what happens when you’ve been here since 2008 I suppose. LOL I guess I will have to just hope that those don’t go pink when ordered or remove them completely. It’s a shame. A few are my best sellers.

Older designs. I’ve  been having the same isssue trying to replace a graphic on an older design…no can do.

Edit: apparently this has been fixed as I just changed out an image from an older design :slightly_smiling_face:

Did you try to unlock the locked layers?

It seems to be a hit and miss. Very aggravating when you spend several hours creating a new product from a previous design and you can’t post it for sale. If it happens sometimes, you can’t take the risk of losing all your work and thus it effectively means you always have to start from scratch. Just like I never leave anything to end up in “saved designs” - also a hit and miss.

i tried and could not. Talked to zazzle chat rep and she said that option is no longer available and apologized. So rep was wrong? Please tell me how you did it, step by step, with an older already published product, please.  Didn’t see unlock feature for already published product either. thank you.

Unlock option wouldn’t appear for already published product. Zazzle rep told me it can’t be done, for already published products. Still wondering because someone said they were able to revise and republish an old product. Have you been able to? If so, mind giving me the step by step? Thank you.
