Zazzle Return Policy....New

Hi, as an ambassador of Zazzle. I would like Zazzle to help us (as designers and ambassadors), maybe have a better understanding of this New Zazzle Return Policy, according to this page: Zazzle Return Policy

Because many of us, who may be promoting Zazzle through blogs, products, collections, etc., may happen to advertise or mention a satisfaction guarantee to encourage buyers. Not intentionally, missing this change in September.

Should we know about this page, changing the Zazzle Return policy, in our promotions? Because I was quite confused and taken aback when a customer asked for a reprint, when she paid an additional $5. Thankfully, another designer showed me the page, and the customer and I are progressing through these simple changes.

This is why I am asking for Zazzle’s help, perhaps to give us more of a heads up, and what we need to prepare ourselves for. Esp when customers come to our chat boxes and want reprints because they’ve paid the extra money.

Thank you Zazzle :revolving_hearts:

Cool. So now quality control is an extra fee. Fascinating. I didn’t know of this change, so thanks for letting people like me know about it. It gave me a good laugh.

I asked this in another, a solved thread, but because it may get overlooked there here is my question again:

Moderator(s):

I have now read the info about this new Worry-Free Design Review and Delivery program. If participants have a 60-day return window instead of a 30-day return window, does that delay the clearance of purchased items and payouts for us? Yes or no?

This is an AWFUL policy. No customer should be expected to pay extra to cover for Zazzle’S poor quality control. It’s a very bad look. I haven’t ordered much, but every order had issues that were not caused by problems with the design. They were sloppiness on Zazzle’s end. This could end up a PR nightmare.

We have not made changes to payment cycles.

It seems the new return policy really does boil down to this: without Worry‑Free Returns, customers can’t return anything for size or fit issues, but if they pay the extra fee they can return for any reason at all within 60 days, If’s essentially monetizing the right to return. which effectively shifts all sizing problems into the “customer mistake” category unless they’ve paid for the add‑on. That’s tough for apparel sellers because Zazzle’s clothing doesn’t run true to size, hoodies are oversized, shoes run narrow, flip‑flops used to run wide, and sizing varies wildly across products, yet customers understandably assume a medium is a medium. Under Standard Returns they can’t return for size, fit, wrong option chosen, or simply not liking the item, while Worry‑Free covers all of that, including wrong size, wrong color, changed plans, or no longer needing the item. Overall, I think the Worry‑Free fee is going to hurt sales because Zazzle’s base prices are already high and even the sales aren’t what they used to be, so customers aren’t going to want to pay an extra fee just to have the ability to return something; many will take their chances and others will simply shop somewhere else, at least in my opinion.

Hey Zazzle, I have an idea that might make the new return policy feel a lot better for customers and actually strengthen your membership program at the same time. Instead of charging a separate Worry‑Free fee at checkout, consider folding Worry‑Free Returns into Zazzle Black by increasing the Premium tier and offering the basic tier for those who don’t want the added cost. This way, customers feel like they’re getting more value with faster delivery and worry‑free returns bundled together, rather than being asked to pay an extra fee just to have the ability to return something. It turns the protection into a perk instead of a penalty, reduces checkout hesitation, and makes Premium feel like a true membership with meaningful benefits. In the long run, this approach looks more customer‑friendly, less like another fee, and more like a smart upgrade that encourages people to join and stay in the Black program.

Susang6, I just thought I’d point out that the Zazzle Black has been replaced to the Zazzle Plus Premium now. And, there is a Zazzle Plus as well. See the differences here: Zazzle Plus | Free Shipping, Exclusive Offers & More

So what I think just happened recently was they took any confusion out of the way, and set both these plans into place, in different ways.

On the one hand, does it save us from receiving cancellations? Is this why things changed? We don’t know how many returns are coming in. We don’t know how customers are shopping on Zazzle, presuming they once had a 100% satisfaction guarantee on most of everything.

I see your point though, on how it could be just another benefit for the Zazzle Plus Premium memberships though. In fact, I wish they did a side by side comparison of the two memberships, because, in this sentence under the Premium it still makes me cringe a little, “At Zazzle’s discretion, Zazzle may exclude certain products from the program, including but not limited to oversized items, products fulfilled by third parties, or other products with special shipping characteristics.”. If I’m paying $49.95, I want to know what I’m paying for in more absolutes. However in the long run of this, the Zazzle+Premium is an absolute charge. Whereas, from what I was told in my other thread about the worry free return policy, the prices go up according to how much is purchased. So, the two programs are seperated for this too. And, this is why I wanted Zazzle to chime in to let us know ALL the changes that took place in September. I think it matters to us as customers and as ambassadors too.

@Fiona

Good to know.

But, for the life of me, I do not understand why Zazzle makes major changes without informing its designers in advance. Designers are on the front lines and shouldn’t be blindsided. The lack of communication is galling.

Thanks for sharing the black shipping updated… I had no idea, seems like there was a quiet roll out of the new terms. I completely missed the notification… did it come under store management , the dashboard where all info is?

No, after receiving a chat message, I went looking for what the customer was referring to, as far as wanting a reprint and that she had paid an extra $5. All I thought of was the Zazzle Plus, because I had seen “worry free”. It was the only part of “worry free” wording that I had picked up on, was in this new Zazzle Plus Premium, at around the beginning of August. Again it was tied to the advertising, free trial subscription of the Zazzle Plus Premium.

While trying to understand the customer in the chat messaging almost a week ago, I posted in the forum under this thread https://community.zazzle.com/t/can-anyone-help-me-understand-this-customers-request-whos-it-for-to-you-me-right/17399/18, and was pointed into a new direction under the Return Policy. I had no idea both things were changing, and it had to be end of August or first of September. There’s been no News yet regarding it. But since this change, I’ve been adjusting my promotions regarding this.

It’s out there now, and can be read on the website. But nothing has been said in their News about it. For the one thing I thought was newsworthy, it’s been unimportant to say anything - Yet. Strange isn’t it?

I have Zazzle Plus Premium. I’ve paid for it every year since 2016. Not because I order a lot but because when I do want something I’m impatient and want the quicker shipping, and I don’t want to worry about how much more shipping costs would add to the order.
This new “Worry-Free” ad-on is already included with ZPP. It’s not a service I asked for so I would be extremely ticked if they upped my subscription rate because of it.

As for the new return policy

the first two under White Glove are embarrassing; they should be a standard part of every single order. Asking customers to pay extra to ensure their order prints correctly or is delivered in the time frame stated when ordering, that’s absurd.

“Event Cancelation, Date, or Plan changes” and “No longer needed” - no longer being accepted as reasons for a return - Good! That should be a boon for Designers as we all know how lenient Zazzle has been with returns so this should cut-down on finding ugly pink slips in our earnings reports.

“Your mistake, like a typo, wrong size or option”.
This one needs clarifying. Surely they will have a short window of time to cancel and re-order? If they’re reviewing their order and notice oh shoot!, I made a typo … it would be rotten not to give them the chance to cancel, fix the mistake and reorder. At one time in the past you could could cancel yourself w/o having to call/email anyone as long as it hadn’t entered the production stage yet. I hope that is still an option.

The stated return window being 60 days instead of 30 doesn’t bother me because they never really upheld the 30-day policy before anyways; many of us have experienced cancellations long after the 30-day period. So it really comes down to, is Zazzle actually going to enforce these new policies or continue to make exceptions for people?

Just to be clear, is it the Zazzle Plus Premium, or the fact that we’re designers here? And, here’s why I think that it may be because we’re designers (another reason we could use an explanation from Z). I had ordered a card in July of this year for a baby shower. I explained to customer service that the World Soccer Cup had too many postal workers delaying mail ( that also was a first for me, btw. I’ve never seen this issue before, but I did verify it through the tracking system.). I had the Zazzle Plus Standard, not the Premium. I got a gift card balance return though. My reason was the delay, so I “No longer needed” it. Which isn’t covered according to the New return policy.

I don’t order a lot as well, and that’s why I went to the $19.95 Standard choice. My Worry-Free Design Review and Delivery was just like yours, Price $3.99, and the Subtotal marked out too. I really didn’t pay a lot of attention to this at that time, because it was marked down to $0.00 at the time I purchased the card.

I have a positive and negative outlook on this, and only time will tell how this goes. I like the fact that less cancels may happen, but also worry that customers expect things to be the same. Not that they’ll have to pay extra for this service.

It’s Zazzle Plus and appears to apply to Standard or Premium subscriptions. I knew I had seen somewhere where it specifically said it was free with Zazzle Plus but couldn’t remember where. It says it on the main shopping cart page:

Thanks for finding this. :wink:
