Does Changing the View on Shared Links Impact Referrals?

Not sure if that title makes sense or not, but I've been doing some promoting and sometimes I want to use a different view for the share link, which adds a parameter to the link like this:

https://www.zazzle.com/rustic_purple_watercolor_roses_wedding_website_enclosure_card-256543704518477...?view=113643097329661494

Same thing when I'm promoting someone else's product:

Does this impact the referral in any way?

Opps I reread your post and realized I had interpreted the question inaccurately

Sorry I'm not much help. But it's a good question Cat. 😊

Well, thanks for trying, and perhaps I need to clarify because I wasn't sure how to ask what I was asking!

Just to clarify, when I say that I wanted a "different view" I mean that I want to choose a different product preview image from the one that is set as the default:

Am I making sense?

"Am I making sense?"

Yes. 🙂

If the rf is in the link, it should not matter (my understanding).

This is a very interesting question and one that would be super easy to test out ourselves if the referral system was still behaving in a predictable fashion. As is, we can only guess, and my guess is that under normal/pre-April1st conditions that extra parameter defining a different product view would not affect a Promoter referral any more than adding the tracking code parameter did. And for a link with an RFID# in it it should be absolutely fine because those links govern anything the customer buys under your 'cookie'.

* this is just me guessing, I couldn't possibly know for sure until the whole referral system irons itself out.

Sooo... reading between the lines of your post here, do you think that before April 1 the referral system was functioning in a reliable/predictable way and now it isn't? I guess I've been assuming that it was always a bit of a hand-wavy proposition.

Yes.

As detailed in my Tech forum post, my five recent orders pre-April1 involved multiple designers & referrers with both type of links and all worked as expected. Some time ago (can't search for the post right now) I did some test orders when there was concern over how customers getting distracted on the landing page might affect self referrals, and those worked out as expected. And my own random orders over the years have always worked out as expected.
