$0 royalty on a Value Phone Case?

I had a customer transfer a design to a "value phone case" and I made $0?

Does anyone know what that is about?

I remembered someone posted about a similar issue, looked it up, here’s the link.
https://community.zazzle.com/t5/ask-a-question/quot-value-quot-phone-case-royalty-at-5/m-p/20636
Doesn’t really help you with your issue, it was the only post that I could find that was similar  to your problem. Possibly the customer used a coupon code or a discount that wiped out what should have been your 5%? That’s a giant boo hiss.
Only the forum mods can answer  and solve this. 🤔

Thanks, I found that thread but it didn't seem like the same issue.

Hopefully Zazzle sees this question and can shed some light.

Thanks!

In my Zazzle journey I have had $0 referral happen to me twice. Once on invitations and another time on something else but can't remember. Both times I wrote to Zazzle directly and never got an answer. I'd be curious to see if you get one. 🤞🏻

Have had it happen several times.

The same thing just happened to me. I created a tshirt for my friend's son from South Korea. I copied the referral link and emailed it to her. She opened up the link and made the purchase. I only got my royalty but not the extra commission. I called customer service and also emailed them and they insisted the referral was made by a third party. I used my personal email instead of my zazzle email but its still the same link. I told them it was me who sent her the link. I even called zazzle before the sale because my friend was having trouble entering her korean tax ID into the system. I specifically made the tshirt with her son's name because she wanted me to have my first sale. It was a favor she was doing for me. In fact, I'm going to remove that tshirt from my store because it's non-customizable. It was a specific design request with a korean name on it. I dont know what I did wrong but you ladies had the same problem. I was planning on starting a blog to promote my products and other "zazzler's" products to earn that extra commission but with this incident, I'm going to think it twice. good luck to all.

For your situation, it sounds like your friend may have clicked an external zazzle link to look at things earlier in the day or day before (I'm not sure how long the zazzle cookies last) and there was a cookie still live in her browser history that gave the sale to whoever took her into Zazzle first. If you ever do this again, ask your customer to clear their cookie caches or use a broswer theyve not used before to follow your link and make the sale. If there's a cookie from someone else still alive, they are going to get the referral.

Not the same issue. I didn't receive a royalty. There are many reasons why someone might not get the referral. But it is frustrating to create a special product and not get the referral. It's happened to all of us. Hopefully your blog brings in many referrals.

My apologize I meant to write royalty instead of referral. I also had not received any money for a product sold.

The same thing has happened to me twice with customers I worked with on personalization. We have both ( the customer and I ) contacted ZAZZLE only to be told we did something that can't be determined wrong in the order process. Requests for further clarification on this muddled process were not replied to.

I have written to prodesignersupport@zazzle ... they are looking into this. I'll report back what the resolution is when I hear back again.

This should never happen!  There ought to be a default minimum royalty that the designer earns regardless of any discounts or other circumstances.  You don't see Zazzle taking the $0 profit hit...  we shouldn't have to either.

I just got an email back saying this is a technical issue that they are working on. Hopefully anyone else affected will have this fixed automatically once they fix the issue.

You got an email from z saying it was a tech issue they are working on, that info helps.
Thanks for letting everyone know.

Is Zazzle going to credit the designers for lost royalties?

I would expect that anyone affected will get credited once they have a fix. But I would encourage anyone who has a $0 royalty to contact Zazzle just to make sure.

I emailed support a few days ago asking for an update and was told they are still investigating. Then I had another $0 sale go through this morning. So I wrote back again. Value phone case seems to be the only similarity between the two sales. Different case design and country this morning.

I've had this happen with a value case before. I didn't remember the case until reread the earlier posts. It may have been a couple of years ago. At the time I also reported it and no one ever got back to me. I'd sure like the answer to this one too. After the incident, I stopped making the value cases.

Is the "value" phone cover the one on which the royalty won't change? I need to go back and delete this product. I can't stop someone from transferring, but I am not giving away designs.

Right... 5% is the fixed rate.
