Today, I made a sale for which my earnings went up $5.42. I looked at Royalties and found that what I'd sold gave me a royalty of $3.31. I waited for a couple hours to see if it would straighten out, but it didn't. Nothing anywhere had changed other than that single sale. Any ideas?

@Barbara Perhaps the exchange rate went up at the same time. That sometimes happens to me (also it goes down - not so much fun)

When the exchange rate goes up or down, it doesn't vary as much as in this case (a U.S. sale), and it's always a small amount that doesn't lead to a difference of $2.11, which is what made my eyebrows shoot up. Granted, I seem to be the winner in this case, but if such variations were to become common, we might lose as easily as we win. It's downright weird.

Hi @Barbara Many thanks for your inquiry. Royalties are earned in the currency that the customer purchased from Zazzle in, so even if a Creator set up their store on the US domain and has their primary currency set as USD, if a customer from France purchases the Creators design in EUR, the royalties earned are in EUR and will remain in this currency until a payout is requested. Once a payout is requested the royalties will be exchanged into the Creator's primary currency and paid out, subject to exchange rates. For this reason, only cleared earnings generated in the Creator's Primary Currency may be used for purchases on site. For example: a US based Creator who set up their store on zazzle.com, can only use their cleared USD earnings to make purchases on zazzle.com, as USD is their primary currency. If they have cleared earnings in EUR, these cannot be used towards purchases on the site.
Hope this helps,
All the best, Lisa 🌸

@Lisa-B: Thanks for your reply, but I'm currently getting only occasional items cleared due to last month's sales being in the ditch. The last time anything cleared was two days ago, and it was a U.S. sale. In the current case, the the exchange rate never fluctuates that wildly.

I just sold two items:
Item one: 9.92 euros royalty translating $10.41 U.S. (no third party)
Item two: $5.22 U.S royalty (with third party)
The total royalties for the two sales would be 15.62, but only $10.93 was added to my earnings. Surely, the exchange rate doesn't fluctuate so widely, and surely the third party couldn't have earned $4.59 on that second sale.
I've seen the exchange rate go up and down, but it's almost always in the amount of pennies, and I've never seen a third party take so much out my royalty.
With what happened to the sale I described in my original post and now this, I'm wondering if the economy is finally collapsing or if my own personal economy has been invaded by a demon.
Still asking for clues. 😞

Never mind. My husband said I used a left-handed calculator with my right hand. I think I've lost all my arithmetic skills.
