Yes I think it's very helpful. It's a great way to showcase products that go together. This is helpful for holidays, events, matching clothes+accessories, matching home goods and thematic gift collections.

Collections certainly separates Z from most PODs and distinguishes them as more than just a POD. The ability to create a curated set of products and easily share it, with anyone or everyone, used to be a bit harder and required 3rd party services in many instances. I used Weebly for awhile to create sets of products. It is a smart tool for Zazzle to offer us because it is cohesive with Z's niche approach and it encourages sharing.
It is useful for sellers like me who do lots of different things and need a simple way to display a selection of limited products to a specific audience. And it is a good tool to create sets, such as bathroom sets or car sets or dorm sets etc.. But it is really great for people with a focused specialty such as party planners and event organizers and wedding designers etc. because much of what they do needs to be catalogued or complied in specific ways for individual clients.
Anyone else remember galleries?

Wow, your question really made me think! Yes, to market a product effectively, you need to create an offer that fulfills a genuine customer need. Collections can help by offering multiple options for the same solution or by addressing a problem that requires several items to be solved completely. So perhaps the challenge with collections is identifying the specific problem we want to solve for the customer, and figuring out how to do it best. Thanks Vivian

I think that the new collections system is mostly focused on weddings and events. The other categories are too vague for those of us who don’t create products for weddings, graduation, and other events.
So, I create my collections as best as I can, but I have not noticed increased sales as a result. Because of that, I focus my efforts elsewhere.

So how do people actually identify collections that are performing well in the marketplace?

I sort by Last Viewed in the back end. If there are a bunch of items from a particular collection clustered together then I know that's from customers walking through that collection. When I get a sale from that collection and a bunch of products at least viewed even if only one sale, then customers are walking through to check out all their options. I often have variations on a theme and I can tell from Last Viewed if they looked at all the variations before landing on the one they ultimately bought.
Even better if they buy multiple items from one collection, but that happens less often than walking through the collection and buying one thing.

Wow, amazing! I’ll pay more attention to the last viewed products and try to see if they belong to a particular collection. Thanks!
