Edit my own design after publishing it

Dear fellow Zazzlers,

Since I started working with Zazzle about a week ago I uploaded a few designs. Now I found out about template objects and I wanted to edit all my already published designs, so they would be easy to modify by the customer.

Now when I go back in and edit my design and press done, it only changes for me and not for everyone else.

Is there no way to edit an already published design? Do I have to delete all my designs and reupload them?

I wish everyone nice holidays!

Hi Barbara,

I am a bit scared of getting banned from the website for publishing too many designs that's why I tried to avoid this. Thanks for the clear answer!

You say that Zazzle has a way of replacing products without republishing. What do you mean by that?

The only way to do it is to edit your design, adding those templates, click Done, and then click the Sell button. Once your new version is there, go back and delete the old version. Though Zazzle has a way to replace products without having to republish them, it doesn't work for adding templates. It's better that you've found the need for text templates now rather than a year from now.

Here’s a good explanation already given—-

https://community.zazzle.com/t5/general-zazzle-discussion/duplicate-product-or-make-it-a-template/m-...

As long as you first create the new templated product by adding the template, and make sure you delete the old nontemplated product, you will not have a problem. The only way you might possibly have a problem is by leaving the old nontemplated product up after adding the new templated product.

I've assumed all along that the replacement would have a new product ID, thus no indexing issue. Is this not true?

In the meantime, I remade the products that needed text templates and deleted the ones without because those without never sold. A lesson learned about text here on Zazzle where personalizing is king.

@Drinkmoore
the key part of your post states that you started working on zazzle a week ago, so most likely none of the products you created have sold ,had likes, and have low  views. So deleting the older products after templating the recreated products is a lucky break in that you are doing this sooner rather than later. It will probably take a few days for the old/new product transitions. The indexer takes its sweet time it seems. The best part of doing this is that you will in the long run make more sales with the newer templated products.
Afaik, the replacement tool has not kicked in for most shopkeepers. If it finally does, it will be big news on the forum.

Yeah, I am lucky to find out about my mistakes. I have no problem editing all my designs, maybe I will find some other flaws in the process!

I just had very bad experiences with other pod sites when uploading several designs quickly in a row. I got most my shops deleted and never reinstated...

Thanks, your replies have been very helpful!

Someone else will have to answer your question about replacement. I tried it for adding text templates, and it doesn't work, but other people used it, I believe, for errors of one sort another. Someone who's done it will have more info.

You're allowed up to 100,000 products for your account, meaning that if you have two stores, you'd still be allowed only 100,000. No one gets banned for being highly productive, so carry on!

You will have to republish the products and delete the old ones.

Here is a link to information that was posted in August, about the replace product option,

https://community.zazzle.com/t5/store-management/replace-tool/m-p/34749

"I received an email from Zazzle Support on August 26, 2022 that said in part ...

Unfortunately this is a feature being tested by a few select Creators and we cannot provide access for it at this time. However, should the tool become usable by the Creator community as a whole, it will be announced on the community forums"
