Maintaining proportions - when trying to create a towel set

Hi all,  I hope someone can help me as I am spending far too much time on this!!

My designs are mostly repeating geometric patterns.  I am trying to create the towel set.  The towels (the various sizes set) will all have the same design and I want to put a customizable letter in the middle.  What I want to happen is that the towels all have the same repeat size/scale, so that the pattern looks the same on each towel and maintains the scale.  I can't seem to get them to be the same.   Sorry new to this!

Any tips for me please?

Thanks in Advance

There are some more steps: see that little arrow next to the design tool? You have to press it to expand the design space. And then you have to re-select tiling. And then you have to select Basic rather than Centered as the tiling option (or you can choose half drop or brick). Basic and Centered tile the exact same way but only Basic shows the width/height dimensions and only if you have the design space enlarged with that little arrow.

@Lango A few tips from me

Place your pattern tile on the hand towel - hit tiling and select the style you like (i.e centered/basic/half brick/half drop) though you can start from the bath towel - it's up to you)

Sara_H_0-1692358596339.png

Get that placement as you like it. You'll notice a Tile size box with W x H - make a note of the tile size

Press Edit - select all and copy the design from the hand towel over to the bath towel - edit paste

Go to the tiling option on the bath towel and you can input the tile size (W x H) that you made a note of earlier (the one from the hand towel)

Do the same steps with the wash cloth.

As far as getting the Initial all the same size (if that's what you want) just make sure the font size is the same on all towels (but best to fiddle with each individual font size per towel I've found)

Hope that helps

@Sara_H Thank you so much! I hadn't been using the tile option because I dabbled with it and thought it was still making them different proportions/scale.  I had been trying to create the individual images the correct size for each product and trying to place them in design tool !  I will try again using your steps you mention.  Fingers crossed!  Thanks again Sara x

Sorry @Sara_H  In your pic in your reply, i see what you say about tile size w & h, however, on my screen, I only see the coloured boxes and not the tile size bit?

@Lango you have to have the artwork selected (in the layer section - should turn blue) to see the HxW

@Sara_H   Hi again.  Sorry about this!  I have selected the artwork using the layers panel but this is what I see:

Absolutely no idea 🙂  I will have a look and get back to you!

@Lango 🙂 I find the design tool works best with no adblocker enabled for some reason. Good luck!

@Lango also try selecting the bath towel set as a basis to start designing on )sorry should have mentioned that earlier)

In Chrome, I didn't have AdBlocker as an extension, so have gone into settings and changed it in there so that it is not blocking ads.  Have restarted PC etc. but still the same, I can't see the H&W.  Shouldn't make a difference that my store and products are hidden I wouldn't have thought.  Just setting it all up.  I'm in the UK, not sure if that would change anything.  At a bit of a loss really.

By the way, I did what you suggested and chose to design from Bathroom Towel Set, and it starts you off by using the wash cloth - should I start with bath towel?

Thanks @Sara_H     I will just have to wait and see if anything changes over time on the viewing of the H&W.

@Lango try logging into the .com site (presume you've logged in to .co.uk? - same login details) Is it windows 11 or 10 computer?

I'm at a loss why you can't see it. Do you have a different browser you can try. Firefox?

edit to add - doesn't matter which product you start with

@Sara_H   I actually decided not to open a .co.uk store, purely because we don't have the same amount of products that we can use over here, which would have frustrated me alot! 🙂  So I am on .com  .  As you will see from KeegansCreation there were some things that I wasn't doing, which was probably normal for you to do and you probably assumed I was doing that!  Like I say, pretty new here 🙂   Thanks so much for your messages Sara, I now feel confident to get on with this and start creating these properly (I hope) 🙂  Really appreciate your help.  x

@Lango So happy that @KeegansCreation saved the day and explained what I'd missed. Welcome to Zazzle!

@KeegansCreation Ah, I hadn't noticed the expansion arrow before 🙂  Just tried it out and it works!  I'm so grateful to you for that, thank you!!  I can get playing again now 🙂

Right. The Centered option as used in their screenshot doesn't have the w/h options, only the other four options have it. I just realized though that that tiling options panel doesn't scale to screen size with the rest of the elements on the page. At around 1360 in width it starts getting cut-off.  At around 1150 it's completely cut off. If you use the arrow to close up the layers panel, you've bought yourself more screen space and I can go down to around 1015 before it starts getting cut off. Go down to 800 and it's totally cut off. And because it doesn't scale down with the rest of the page, it ends up over-lapping the Change Image, Filters, and Crop options at top of utilities panel on the right.

@ColsCreations Hi there, sorry for late reply!  As I am new to this, I haven't really come across what you mention.  Maybe that's just because I only have the one element in use (mostly).  I will bear this in mind though for the future, thanks.  Sorry I can't help, if it is a problem with you.
