Wading into this thing...and I am stumped: trying to create a envelope with a solid color outside and a patterned design on the inside...finally figured out the solid color outside(that was not obvious,lol) but I wanted to put a background color inside and tile a design over it...I have done this many times on other products and for the life of me I cannot find how to do that...it will let me put a background image but not a color...has anyone figured this out?
As @kcbypatricia mentioned, you'll have to either add your own solid color image or one of the element shapes to fill the interior under your tile design. It wasn't possible to add a background color in the old tool either so you'll have to use a work around.
I haven't tried to design an envelope with the new tool so I don't know if this will work. Maybe you can add a square that fill the entire envelope and add a color to the square, then lock it and add your pattern on top. I hope this helps.

Thank you guys!! The shape tool hack absolutely worked...and the other suggestion would work also.(with more steps)..so a simple effect which was easy to do in the old tool..has taken several days and multiple people trying to find a solution...
