New Media Manager Cover Photos

Are we suppose to make more cover photos and upload up to 10 cover photos, in the new media manager?

1 ACCEPTED SOLUTION

They are cover photos and so appear in your images folder after you upload them. I have now used it. It isn't all that different from the way we were doing it up until today. It's really just a way to upload 2-10 cover photos instead of just one and to add a caption. I will be shocked if anybody uploads 10 for any product and expect most products will have 1-3.

Oh my! I just had the pop-up for this on a product page but was busy doing something else so didn't check it out before it disappeared. Here's the page I just found with all the details:

https://www.zazzle.com/creators/playbook/media+manager

So they're now letting us encouraging us to make as many as ten of our own product preview images for each product. Wow!

Where did you find this Creators Playbook link? I looked in Creator News and Creator Information in the forum and Sell in the MP sidebar and couldn't find it. It's the sort of thing that ought to be in Creator News.

KeeganCreations

I don't see any information about it anywhere on Zazzle yet. Zazzle always seems to release something new first and then announce it later. I saw the media manager pop up, when I went to one of my product pages.

@KeegansCreation

On the initial pop-up on a product page I clicked "get started" and then on the next pop-out clicked "learn more about best practices".

I'm really curious about the captions but don't want to spend time making a bunch of fake mock-ups to try it. Do you mind sharing the product you did so we can see where/how the captions appear to customers?

Here I've used the caption to spell out the use-case (even though it's obvious from the cover photo). Thanks for pointing out where you found the link. I was wondering if there was some sort of Creators FAQ section that I was missing.

KeeganCreations

If you added a caption, it shows nowhere. I just now created a mockup, added a caption, and it shows nowhere. If it's for the designer only, I'm fairly sure we'll recognize the image.

It shows when you click on the image to see it zoomed in.

I see the caption under the situ view of the cover photo, when I click on the cover photo and zoom in.

Arrrrrgggg....doing designers a solid by allowing us more ways to display our products. Please don't do me anymore favors Zazzle. ...... you're killing me with kindness! When am I actually going to have time to design? Possibly that's the goal? There are too many new designs???

I've been saying for a while that I need to be 17 people in order to keep up with all of these changes - let's make that 170 now! Oy! At any rate, I am feeling keenly aware of my limitations at the moment!

I doubt a plethora of mockups is good for all products, and I can't imagine ten of them increasing sales. Too much of a good thing. I can see it for products that might have multiple uses or, as in clothing, might be nice showing various positions, but how many ways can you show a postcard, poster, doormat, etc. Flat products benefit by an attractive mockup, not multiple mockups.

My one fear is that, as they've done with our single mockups, Zazzle will prioritize designers who've pushed out multiples.

What images do I upload? Are these new images going to be in the media section of our shop or are they going to be cover photos, added to the situ views?

Ok thanks.

Ten mockup photos added to the existing mockup photo lineup seems like overkill and unlikely to help. One or possibly two seems sufficient. Three in a pinch. But ok. I'll continue making one and only do two when a situation calls for it. I do like the ability to add our own caption. I'll have to monitor the MP to see if anybody takes them up on their 10 photo offer but I doubt it.

KeeganCreations

I agree. It seems like I am still working on one mockup for every product. Now they want up to 10.

We can go back and add captions to our existing cover photos now. I had to add the caption a couple of times, in order for it to show up under my cover photo.

What, exactly, is the caption all about? For instance, if the product is a tote and you show the tote hanging on an arm, then on a counter and an arm digging into it, what would the caption say and why would it say it? Any ideas?

It shows nowhere at all for me. Not zoomed in, not near the thumb, not even in outer space. Weird.

EDIT: I have to scroll the enlargement to see the caption, and I have a high-resolution monitor. Are customers going to scroll the enlargement?

I had to add the caption a couple times, for the caption to show up, under the zoomed in cover photo.

My only concern is the customer won't see the changes to the product view until they scroll down past our own uploaded cover photos... right?

Ah, I've just logged out and pretended to be a customer. Once you hit the "personalization" button, the view reverts to the first Zazzle cover. The customer is able to view their changes easily. 😃

I haven't yet tried the new cover photo system.
I have read all of the posts concerning "allowing 10 photos" - Why?

I am thinking perhaps adding seasonal images that I might choose to move to first position (shows in the Market Place) during that Holiday/event/etc.

Who knows ???

I can see this being helpful for pinning on P.  By adding 10 different images you provide 10 more unique images that can be turned into pins...  at least the first time they are pinned...

The captions would /could be good for people who are sight impaired and are also probably good for SEO... just a little more info for the search engines...

After reading the guide... I wonder.... could one use the ten available images as one might use an "Idea" pin on P.

Question:  Does each image need to display the product?  Can one image be used to show only part of the product?  Can one be used that only displays a store logo and contact info?  Can one use the ten to create a how to personalize type slide show?  Those are the questions that come to the top of my mind at the moment...

I'm not understanding this at all. I now have to find product mockups, download images, make new product photos, and add them to each product I offer? That's a ton of extra work. I'd hardly have time to design. Zazzle already has nice looking product photos. Why doesn't Zazzle just offer more product photo options?

So... has it been people's experience that the new media manager cover photos are getting preferential placement in the MP as before?

Well well. I dont feel so bad after reading the posts regarding Media Manager and Mockups. I thought I would easily create something for fabric. Its been over a year and I m yet to figure it out.  I look on Youtube and the zazzle menus for the Media on their screens look totally different from what I can even find.

ps,, we need better fabric mock ups please.
