I'm new to doing anything with mockups. One of the questions I have is.... Do the mockups you use (not to upload to zazzle, but to upload to other places for promoting reasons), do these mockups need to be the SAME items that are on the Zazzle website ? Because I'm finding it very difficult to find Free mockups that are the SAME. I was told that they need to look the same. I finally found some free mockups for mugs that look the same as what Z has, but even shirts.. nothing looks the same at all. I go through page after pages of all these mockups, and look at everything, then compare it to what is on Z and I just can't seem to find anything.
Solved! Go to Solution.

Try Canva. Download the product photos from your product, remove the background, and choose a new background from Canva. That way, your product is always the same as what you're selling. I keep this process as simple as possible because every minute spent searching for the perfect mock up is time not spent creating products to sell. I have Canva Pro, but there are a lot of free photos on there to get started/try out as well. It's not perfect for some products but my motto is "good enough is good enough". 🙂 Good luck!

Well, if your mockup shows a different mug than the one that is sold on Zazzle it is misleading to the customer and could be construed as false advertising. So to stick to your mug example it would have to the same kind of mug that Zazzle sells.
A lot of people here use the mug product photo from Zazzle, cut out the mug and place it into another photo to make it look more realistic. You just have to make sure perspective matches between the mug and the photo you place it into.

Yes, I wouldn't pass it off as the same style. I would say above that the style wouldn't be the same, but yes I do see what you mean. I guess I'm just trying to find an easy, free, and fast way to do mockups and it's not working, lol. It seems to be taking me so long just to find one item that looks the same. Just now I found a tote and leggings but here again, they are mostly the same but not. There might be tiny details like the tote straps are a bit thicker than what Z has. So, I can't use any of these, lol. It's SUPER annoying !!! And, trying to keep going to find products on Z when I run into mockups that I think "might" be the same, only to notice that it is not the same.

I know a lot of people that use Canva, but for me, I'd spend more time looking for the perfect background, than looking for a mockup! I'm OCD about some things, especially about mockups!

I try to get mockups that match Zazzle products exactly, but it's difficult, and sometimes there are tiny differences that most customers wouldn't notice. you gave an example of the tote straps. I wouldn't measure everything to make sure the straps match exactly. As long as they look the same at first glance, and the way they attach to the bag is the same, plus the bag looks like the correct proportions, I'll use it.
