Purpose of making an image a template object

If I don't want the customer to replace the image, would it still make sense to make an image a template object?  After all, the customer can still resize, move or transfer the image, even if I don't select "Make this a template object."

"Make this a template object." is designed to allow a customer to easily swap an image into your design.

But there are other things that would affect what a customer can do with an image...

On the post product for sale page, for example,  if you select no to show the customize it button, then a customer can not go into the design to alter the image.

In the design tool, you can choose to make an object permanent, and that will make it so that a customer can't delete it or move it off the design field.  So the image will always appear.  I believe this would still allow the customer to alter the size and move it.  It should also allow it to be transferred.

You can also lock a layer in the design tool.  I am unsure how this would affect the customers ability to alter / transfer the image.  Perhaps someone else can answer this part of the question...

So to answer the first question in your post.  If you do not want them to replace the image, then do not enable "Make this a template object"

If a layer is locked, the customer CANNOT edit it in any way.
