"Value" phone case royalty at 5%???

A friend of mine wanted to purchase one of my iPhone designs for her Samsung s10. Casemate doesn't have the s10 & otterbox was out of stock, but I found the s10 blank on the "value" phone case & made a version, published it, & sent her the link. Fortunately, I got the referral, as well (had her clear cookies, etc.) because I noticed I only made 78¢ on the royalty. Then I noticed the royalty was at 5%! (I have a blanket 14.9% royalty & lower it when I publish higher priced items.) I attempted to change it & see that I can't. Is this correct? Is there a reason why it's set at a fixed 5%? It's not like it's a covid item, where the PPE percentages were lower as not to gouge people, or anything. I'm perplexed!

Hi @Marcia I have a few of these Value Phone cases in my store and yes the royalty is capped at 5% as mentioned on this help page https://help.zazzle.com/hc/en-gb/articles/360037785973-Zazzle-Royalty-and-Referral-Percentages

I believe the value phone case royalty has always been capped at 5%. I don't  recall the reasoning behind it, maybe just because it was a budget item.

@alissag thank you – wondered if it was something like that. Moderators, any additional comments/verification? Thanks!

Thanks for that link, @Sandra- ! Who knew??? (Obviously not me, lol!) Yikes – that's LOW! I only made it because my friend had that Samsung model & it's the only blank that would work. Glad I got the referral as well...
