I was sitting down to work on making a bunch of cover photos, but quickly got into a quandary about whether to include the mockup with the hand holding the digital version or not. I know we're not supposed to advertise the download thing yet, but we are supposed to make mockups. I don't want to invest the time/money/effort in creating mockups without the download view if I'm just gonna have to redo them all in a few months to include it. Wondering what the guidance is on this issue. For the moment, I guess I'll focus on something else.

I agree with you I also think that Z could probably have invested more advanced thought/research/meetings in establishing guidelines for mockups and cover photos before releasing them for shops, who now have to sort out just what the "guidelines" are,as you just so clearly said.
It's a waste of everyone's time to have to sort things out after a release. regardless of beta testers.
Couldn't help you with any kind of answer about guidance tho.

Am I missing something here? It looks like some are able to view instant downloads and some aren't? I have everything enabled. Maybe it hasn't rolled out yet? Or maybe it just has for a few select?

Nvm. Sorry about that. I just read the info in the news section in my shop. I see now what's going on : )

Yeah, some users can see it and some can't. I can see it on my PC when I'm using Edge, but not with Chrome, and not on my phone. Anyhow, when you can see it, the regular product photo is replaced with a mockup that includes a hand holding a phone showing the digital version like this:
So I'm just trying to figure out how to deal with that in my custom cover images. Hoping someone official will pipe in on Monday and give me some advice on the subject.

Ohhhh I see. Yes, because I'm betting those photos are going to trump our cover photos...to push the digital thing. That makes sense. Hmmm. Hopefully someone will let us know : )

Had I seen the hand holding the phone with the "digital version" I would simply assume I was looking at a photo of someone browsing the site and looking at a Zazzle product, which of course also is a digital version of the image.
I also do Postcrossing!

I sure hope not! The mockups they are pushing for now already look too cluttered in my opinion, adding the hand holding the phone would be way too distracting. I don't see the point of it. They should just add a download icon in top left or right corner.
